How Did We Get Here?

Prologue.

A screen shows lots of gore. A few corpses as the final scream dies down. Mister sighed, unamused, he leaned on the armrest.
"How disappointing." He waved his hand boredly at the screen.
"Try again."

Everything fades to black.

...

He opens his eyes, blinking a bit and rubbing his eyes to get used to the light. Is this.. a classroom?.. Why couldn't he remember anything?
He racked his brain for something, but.... Oh! Wait!
He remembered his name!
Mari.
Was that really it?

He dusted himself off, with his one hand, as he stood up. He looked around the room curiously, his ear twitching.
"Where-"

He was suddenly cut off by a loud scream.

"AHHHHHH!! WHERE THE HELL AM I?!"

He flinched, some of his fur puffing up. He noticed another person in the room, which seemed to be a classroom.

"Oh!-"
The person had a spiral for a head that was just.... Floating above their body?

"AHH! WHAT THE HELL?!"
Well, the person noticed the cat guy...

"Hello!" Mari waved, smiling politely, despite... Literally everything.

"IT TALKS?!" This guy seemed pretty worked up.. maybe Mari ought to wait till they're calmer..

"WHAT ARE YOU?"

"I'm Mari!"

"..I said what, not who!" The person looked a bit irritated now, jeez.

"So?"

"So.. WHAT are you??"

"A cat?" Mari tilted his head a bit, putting his hand in his pocket. His tail swayed a little, he was starting to get amused by this little guy.

"Weird."

"Soooo, who are you?" Mari inquired.

"Reggie." Reggie rolled his eyes, crossing his arms.

"Well, lovely to meet you, I think!"

"Right."

The two stared at eachother. Mari was smiling and Reggie looked suspicious of him.

All of a sudden a loud voice rang through the room and presumably the rest of the building.

"ATTENTION! Please, make your way to the classroom A-S-A-P. Being late to class results in detention, and you don't want that!~" It was said in such a sing-song-y way, as if the person speaking were enjoying themself or just teasing them.

Mari looked around, confused. Reggie did the same. He walked over to Mari cautiously and stood next to him.

Mari noticed this, smiling smugly. "Scared?"

Reggie glared.

Before Reggie could respond to Mari, two people came in. One had a relatively normal human head but a stuffed animal body but the other had a normal human body and a strange head.. (Eden and Maple btw)

"Oh?" Mari put a hand on his hip, noting the sewn areas connecting the body and head on both. It looked like they'd swapped bodies at some point.

"Hello you two!" He smiled politely at them. Reggie scoffed and stayed behind Mari.

"Ah!- Hey!" The one with the normal(ish) head waved, running over. The other followed behind, all eyes looking up at Mari.

'Creepy..' He thought. He tried to not let it show, though.

"So.. names?" He tilted his head.

"I'm Maple and this is Eden!" She smiled.

"Lovely.. well, I'm Mari. I don't suppose you know where we are?" He didn't look away from the two, still a bit on guard.

"Nope!" Maple shrugged.

Reggie glared at the two.

"Uh?.." Maple was a bit confused, looking up at Reggie.

"Um- That's Reggie, by the way!-" Mari smiled sheepishly, stepping out of the way of Reggie.

Reggie crossed his arms. "Freaks."

Maples eyebrows furrowed "Hey!" she glared at him. "At least my head is attached to my body!"

"The wrong one. You both look idiotic." (Reggie)

"HEY!!" (Maple)

"What?!" (Reggie)

Mari watched with amusement. Eden was glaring daggers at Reggie.

"What is your deal?!" (Maple)

Before Reggie could respond (again), someone cleared their throat at the front of the room.

Everyone looked towards the front.

"Everyone's here, how pleasant!" They clapped. "My name is Mister. Please sit down so we may begin our first day of class." He smiled at them.
