As I step over a dead imperial, I once again see that recurring symbol scorched into the chest. "Orion Actual, this is Orion Leader, over." A nearly unintelligible response arrives. "Orion Leader this is Orion Actual, go ahead". I quickly respond. "Another dead one, same symbol, same style; burnt in. Heading back to base, over". A long pause follows, then the voice is back on, this time frantic "Orion leader, regroup your squad and hole up. Do not come back to base, I repeat, do not come back to b-Ahhh!" I hear the operator screaming as an unfamiliar voice, low and rough, yell something unintelligible, and a metallic "csssst!" Is easily heard, stopping the operator's cries. I turn towards the base location, seeing it in ruins, smoke billowing from the main compound. Then, the sky above the base simmers, then a huge, alien looking ship appears, I involuntarily start towards the base, readying my shotgun. Suddenly, a blinding light fires from the ship, momentarily blocking my vision and sending me to the ground. When my vision returns to normal, the hill where the base once stood was now a crater, smoldering and charred. I turn and sprint back towards the jungle putting the shotgun on my back. "All Orion units, this is Orion Leader. I'm calling a retreat. Coordinates are; 54 degrees north, 90 degrees west. Orion Leader, out". I turn towards the coordinates and sprint towards Echo team's last known location.
