Farewell, Mother

Life is fragile and breaks

With the slightest touch

Of failure or fault

Which all seems too much

You had the brightest smile

Which I clearly remember well

You used to smile every day

Now, only time will tell

When I will see you again

And what you will say

About my life without you

That seems too far away

I wish I could hear your sweet voice

Talking to me like you should

Telling me you love me

Like I know you would

It seemed so long ago

Since the last time I saw your face

You loving laugh and smile

Was as warm as your embrace

I miss the look you gave me

Whenever I did something wrong

The frown along your forehead

You always seemed so strong

I think about you all the time

When I'm asleep and awake

I think about you too much

That it makes my heart break

I wish I could have you back

And lock you in my arms

I wish I could stay like that forever

To protect you from any harms

The time it will take for me

To see all these things I adore

Is too long for me to record

And would hurt me to the core

I always loved to go with you

Everywhere you went

But now, I can't

Because your time is spent

You have no idea how much it hurts

How much it burns

To know you will never come back

And never make your return

I miss you everyday

Each day it grows stronger

My list of "what ifs"

Grows increasingly longer

I'd give anything to see you again

Even if it means the end

Of life as I know it

I'm willing to go round that bend

The end is drawing closer

I can almost feel its grasp

I'm going with it willingly

My heart, held in its clasp

I hope this means I'll see you

Alive, even in death

I will love you forever more

Long after my final breath

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Goodbyes are not forever
Goodbyes are not the end
They simply mean I miss you
Until we meet again
Dedicated to a boy who lost his motor today, as I lost my father.
I hope she finds paradise, Nathan, it's what she deserves.
