Drugo

Cai was still asleep when my dad got back to the house with blood bags for both of us. I pull myself away from him and move out to the hallway, so I don't wake Cai. My dad leaned against the opposite wall smirking at me.

"Welcome back." I say in a hushed voice.

"Hmm- follow me." He says before tossing me a blood bag and heading downstairs.

The bag was still warm. Hesitant, I follow behind my father. He doesn't stop downstairs and heads outside, away from others ears I presume. We walk for twenty minutes before he stops and turns to me.

"You know I have no problem with you can Cai being together. And before you ask how I know, I'm your father. I know."

"Is that what you brought me out here for?"

"No. It's about that girl. There's rumor she was taken by vampires; which would not bode well for us trying to reform an alliance with the wolves. I'm returning home to look into the issue and see if it holds. I want you to remain here. Your mother would not allow—anyway, its best if you stay here with the pack."

"If the claims end up being true, what then?"

"I'll deal with it. You have no need to worry. You may be my heir but I am still in charge. Focus on being young, while you can."

"When are you leaving?"

I didn't want him to leave but I knew I needed to stay. Not all vampires are warm and fuzzy when it comes to the wolves, or witches for that matter. There's also a pretty price tag on my head, per my mother.

"Right now. You're the only one I've told. I find it best if the pack doesn't know about the speculations. I left a cooler with blood for you. Hopefully I'll be back before it runs out."

We exchange some more words before he leaves. I worry about him leaving in the storm, but it's the smart thing to do. His scent will be covered. With a sigh, I turn and head back to the house, sipping on the bag as I go. It's long lost its warmth.

The house is still quiet when I return, dropping the empty bag into the trash, I slowly make my way back upstairs and into bed with Cai. He's still sound asleep. Chuckling to myself, I run my fingers through his matted hair and sigh. I can't help but worry about my family drama and how it will affect Cai's pack. Making my way back into Cai's warmth is difficult since he sleeps like a rock, but once I'm settled I place a soft peck on his cheek before closing my eyes to try and sleep.

When morning arrives, as in the sun is finally out, Rose comes to check on Cai, who is still fast asleep. I slide out of the bed and go to the kitchen with her to help with breakfast.

"Has be always slept this much?" I ask, a bit worried about his sleeping patterns.

"Unfortunately, yes. He sleeps like a log," she jokes. "Oh, I have to ask, where's Bruno? I heard him come in late last night but then he left again." She questions.

"Oh. He said he needed to go back to the brood for some issue that came up. He didn't say when he'd be back to get me." I reply, feeling bad for not telling the entire truth.

John came down shortly after and ate breakfast before leaving to go to alpha stuff. Rose and I ate our own plates before I take a plate up to Cai's room. He's still fast asleep when I return over an hour later. Sighing, I place the plate on the nightstand and start the tedious process of trying to wake the sleeping rock.

"Why are you nagging me?" He says sleepily.

"Because we now have twenty minutes to get ready for school. Eat your breakfast, I made it." The snow storm had calmed significantly overnight so the school system decided we should haul ass to get an education.
