Ch.13 - Another Mission for the Imps

"That... actually sounds good. T-T-Thanks, Loona. Can't believe I said that." mumbled Moxx, before speaking to Balin again. "Our princess may be a demon, but she believes more in the rest of Hell does."

"So try not to lose faith in anyone else, baby." added Millie, feeling slightly better. "I did say demons aren't heartless, so why would your world be any different?"

"Yeah. You're right. I'm sorry." Balin felt like he wanted to cry again. "I just... I don't want you four demons getting exorcised for me. Please."

"Aw, bring it in Balin." Moxxie opened his arms for Balin as he came in for a hug, as the boy's tears streamed down his chocolate-coated face.

This admittedly made Loona a little emotional too, but she still kept her tears to herself and tried not to cry, though she showed a gentle smile just as Blitzø and Millie did from the sidelines.

"...Anywho, I'll just get this show on the road, we've only got 50 minutes until he pays double, so, see ya in a bit M&M!" said Blitzø as he waltzed out of the office.

"Ugh... c'mon honey, we gotta fill the greatest showman's request." smirked Moxxie.

Before he could leave the room, Balin tugged on his tail gently.

"Yes?"

"Uncle Moxxie, can I keep this book to study?" Balin asked him.

"Sorry bud, that's a library book." replied Moxxie. "I gotta return it soon, but you can have a read of it while we're out. I put a bookmark in Chapter 16, which will show you where you'll find out what the Vee's are. As well as the rules you'll need to get acquainted with, like how to keep your distance from any overlord you see, such as them."

"Nah, I don't think he should stress, Fatty." smirked Loona. "Not as long as I'm around."

"You don't have to rip anyone apart for me, Loona." said Balin modestly. "I'll be fine with you."

"Well Balin, a mama wolf is a mama wolf. It's basic instinct." Moxxie gave him a few nudges of his shoulder.

Loona's ears then perked up at that. "Excuse me?!"

She then looked to where Moxxie was standing, to see he was gone in a flash to help prepare for the mission.

Sighing in annoyance at him, she kissed Balin's forehead with a small smile before she left to play on her phone some more.

As Balin sat down to study the Vee's and the other overlord demons, one of them a dinosaur demon which he gulped at, he then looked at Millie feeling a little sad.

He was disheartened at the news on Heaven, sure, but he hated seeing his new friends sad more, even for him.

So being the caring little human he was, he walked over to her and gave her a hug. Millie was surprised to feel that from her after what she said.

"Sugar-pie, are you okay?" she asked.

"Thank you for helping me, Aunty Millie." smiled Balin. "I love you."

Getting her energetic smile back, Millie hugged the kid back tightly as she swayed him back and forth stroking his hair.

"I guess most humans ain't full of secret nasties, after all." she thought in her head.

Meanwhile,

Blitzø and Moxxie were right at work, filling their duffle bags with weapons for the mission.

"Alright Mills, let's come on out and get to it!" called Blitzø. "Those holes ain't gonna fill themselves!"

Loona groaned in embarrassment and rolled her eyes at that innuendo.
