"all personnel must wear a mask, it must cover your face. the only showing parts of your face is the eyes and the mouth."
the silence was eerie for Makarov, the white metal walls and the LED lights were blinding to him. it felt impossible to even focus on what the sergeant was saying, his note pad meant for actual notes was filled with scribbles and random words that he wrote down when he did listen.
"5 patients escaped black site on June 17th 1964, after the Americans invaded. patient Yuri, Becky, Albano, Heckler and Adrian, fled to Separate countries. since then black site and NATO have been on the search for each patient until now."
the slide would change to a slide presenting the faces of all the patients. Makarov shifted in his chair as he looked a Yuri's photo, his mouth covered in blood as he looked like he was in a manic state.
"all patients have been properly analyzed and identified with the markings on the back of their neck"
the slide then changed again to a shot from the back of their head the photo's taken from CCTV footage and then enhanced showing the square outline on their neck and then product number.
"all patients will be assigned accordingly by your pervious designation in black site, that means Makarov will be assigned to yuri, serenity heckler and so on.... every patient resides in a different region of the world, yuri moved to Australia, heckler in Finland, Albano in Portugal, Becky in America and Adrian resides in Russian. you will be accompanied by two scientists, a therapy room residing in a veterans help building, and your own quarters. any questions before debrief?"
Makarov just stared, he wanted to just get out of the room already, the silence was long before the sergeant let out a soft sigh, like he had no hope for the team he's talking to, he then stood straight.
"your all dismissed, your departure is in 15 minutes."
Makarov took no time standing up and walking out, like he was in a rush, his expression showed a dull emotionless husk of a man, like he wasn't surprised about the job he had to do, the two scientists were following close behind as they left the building into the air feild, were a Ilyushin Il-76 awaits for them. as Makarov approached the aircraft, the co-pilot shot him a solute however, Makarov paid no respect.
"I'm not going to war. you don't need to solute.."
the co-pilot's posture dropped as he accompanied him in, the engines roaring as the doors closed as the plane was quickly off to Australia.. one of the scientists let out a soft sigh before speaking up.
"so what do you actually plan to do with yuri..."
he spoke out, he had to speak loud enough for Makarov to actually hear as the engines rumbled in the interior too
"i plan to help him! you saw the blood too, he hasn't lost his old roots!"
Makarov spoke back, he gave him a soft smile but the scientist only showed concern, before shaking his head in denial.
"you have a job Makarov, not an obligation... keep to the script!"
as the scientist said that line, Makarov had already lost hope, he shifted in his seat to get comfortable for the long ride, his eyes slowly closing as he took a nap. it had felt like hours before they finally arrived, Makarov never expected a celebration for his arrival as when they landed and disembarking from the plane, he instantly left. going straight to his designated car and rushing to his site. as it turns out yuri had already started an appointment. mid rush he had then gotten a call as he quickly picked up.
"Makarov Yushkov.."
he spoke, the voice ominous and low. there was silence for a moment before he spoke again
"Don't forget your mask.."
the phone then hung up, Makarov let out a loud sigh as he picked up his mask. it was a white dish with a smiley face on it. it made him cringe just thinking about it but he put it on, soon arriving to the veteran facility. he spared no time, rushing straight in and into his room, giving him only 10 minutes to spare and wait.
and waiting he did, time passed slowly, he was seated in the hard cushion of a "couch" that he was given, the room was dull, barely any decoration, just two couches and a small coffee table in the middle, not even the coffee table had anything, it was plain and black with metal supports.
"how could someone seeking therapy find comfort in this...."
his voice echoed in the practically empty room before falling into silence for only a moment.. before he stepped in.
yuri had seemed discomforted just being in the room, he looked straight at the masked smiler and frowned, he hesitated before stepping in and closing the door behind him, planting himself in the seat and looking at him.
