Chapter 10

"Maksim Chmerkovskiy" he said to the woman at the front desk

"Oh yes, welcome Mr & Mrs. Chmerkovskiy. Your table is right this way"

"I like that" Meryl whispered to Maks's ear

"Like what?"

"Being called Mrs. Chmerkovskiy"

He grinned at her
'Tonight's the night' he thought to himself

They sat at their table. Everything just seemed perfect, lights were dimmed, red rose right in the middle of their table. Simple and perfect.

"This is beautiful, Maks" she said, astound by the whole place

"Yeah? Well I just wanted the best for you" staring right into her sparkling eyes

Maks felt his phone buzz in his pocket. Trying to not ruin the moment, he ignored it and let it ring

They had a very enjoyable conversation and were served with amazing food. Maks dipped his hand inside his pocket and squeezed the box. For the first time, he was much more nervous than performing on stage. Sweat was dripping down his face, legs trembling.

"Are you okay Maks? You seem out of your zone"

"Me? Yeah, I'm perfectly fine"

"Good. I'm going to use the restroom, I'll be right back"

He leans back on his chair and sighs. Finally he remembered that his phone has been ringing in his pocket for the past hour. He took it out and checked to see who it was. Val. He pressed call and waited.

"Val?"

"What?" He sobbed

"You called me. Why the hell are you crying?"

"Fucking shit" shattering something on the other side of the phone

"Bro, calm down. What happened?"

"Jenna fucking cheated on me"

"I don't think I heard you properly. Jenna cheated on you?! How do you know?"

"She's 2 months pregnant Maks!"

"So?"

"So? We never had sex until after we got married! She even admitted it in front of my face!"

"Wait, I'll call you back"

He hung up the phone and walked to the ladies bathroom, barging in the door, finding Meryl at the sink

"Maks!?"

"You knew didn't you?" He said, glaring into her eyes

"I have no idea what you're talking about" Meryl replied, trying to get away from him

"Don't act like you don't know Meryl, you knew that Jenna wasn't fucking pregnant with Val's kid" he shouted at her

"And if I did, what do you want from me Maks?" She said, trying to exit the bathroom. He stopped her right before she grabbed the door handle

"You think this is some kind of sick joke?! He's my brother Meryl! He's my family! You chose to hurt him. Why?"

"Why? Because Jenna's my family. Right, maybe she's not related to me, but for all I know, she's one of the few people that's treating me like her own sister"

"This is pathetic. I trusted you Meryl!"

"I didn't lie to you Maks! What were you expecting me to do? Tell everyone that she cheated on him?! She was about to cancel the wedding Maks!"

"Then she should've canceled it!"

"That would've hurt him even more."

She went out of the bathroom and went straight out the door of the restaurant. He caught up to her.

"Meryl, stop" he said, grabbing her hands

"Let go of me" pulling her hands off him

Suddenly a waiter tapped him on the shoulder

"Mr. Chmerkovskiy? Sorry sir, you still need to pay"

"Right." He replied, looking at her as she went in a cab
