Chapter 57: Shopping With Robin

Max's pov

It's been a few days after the incident. Fortunately the pain wasn't as bad as it was before. Neil however, was still at home. That day he apparently was at the bar as usual

He came back as if he didn't almost kill me. My mom tried to confront him but he got pissed and slapped her, she never said anything ever since.

I tried to think positively, the thought of el coming back, spending the summer her and my friends. I couldn't ask for anything better, of course Neil..gone.. but that was impossible

Anyways, I was getting ready to go to the mall. Tomorrow would be the day they come back! Dustin, Mike, lucas and I planned a surprise party.

I decided to go to the mall so I can buy something for el and will. At first I thought of going with one of the boys but I don't think they would help me much of what to get el

So I called Robin. We've grown a bit closer recently. She immediately agreed.

Before I went to take a shower, I looked at myself in the mirror. I was disgusted by my body, bruises on my stomach, a few at my arms which I cover with foundation. A tear fell down my face as I immediately wiped it.
I sighed and finally got into the shower.

After I finished, 2 hours later Robin arrived. My mom gave me money for the mall etc.

"what's up red" Robin said when I got into the car. "Why do you keep calling me 'red'" I chuckled. "why not?" she said.

"how are you?" Robin asked me as she was starting the car. I hesitated. "I'm good, what about you?" I said. "I'm good" she said.

She turned and looked at me. I was looking out the window. "Are you sure you're okay?" she asked. I turned to look at her. "yeah" I said smiling slightly to be convincing.

She nodded. We finally arrived at the mall. "soo what are you thinking to get them?" Robin asked as we walked into the mall

"um...i already know what to get to will because I asked the boys and they said he wanted a board game" I said. "cool, what about el?" she asked. "good question" I said. She giggled slightly

We went to a couple of shops. I didn't find anything. I sighed. Robin noticed and looked at me. "we'll find something don't worry, there's no need to stress out about a gift" she said softly

"yeah I know, I just want her to like it, it's been a really long time ever since I saw her and-" I said."okay calm down, I'm sure she'll like anything max, she's your best friend right, so she'll like anything" she said

I felt a slightly pinch when I heard the words 'best friends' but I hid it and just looked away, my jaw clenching slightly

"unless.." she said. I looked at her and noticed her smirking. I frowned confused. "unless what?" I asked. She kept looking at me, now raising her eyebrows as it I'm dumb for not understanding

"What Robin? I'm confused" I said. "nothing" she said chuckling. I gave up in trying to understand her and just sighed.

"alright so, I think I won't get her clothes because I don't know if she changed her style or something.." I started saying as we were walking in the hallways. Robin nodded

"what about makeup?" Robin suggested. "um, she's not really into those kinds of things to be honest, plus she doesn't need makeup to be pretty" I said. I didn't mean to say the last part out loud

My eyes widened in realisation. "aww so cute" Robin said. "shh I didn't mean it like that" I said blushing in embarrassment.

"yeah sure, you're just complimenting your friend I don't find it weird" she said smirking slightly. I frowned again. I was confused but let it go this time, just classic Robin I guess

We walked into a store which had necklaces, bracelets, earrings etc. "okay I'm thinking about getting a necklace? What do you think? With like a teddy bear" I said.

"yeah sure, why a teddy bear though?" she asked. "I'm not judging, teddy bears are adorable, I love them I'm just curious" she said. "I just know she likes plushies, she has 2-3, but mainly teddy bears" I said as she nodded

I picked a cure heart necklace with a few mini diamonds around the heart.

"alrightt we found the gifts!!" Robin said when we walked out of the store. "yess we did, thanks for the help" I said smiling

"I didn't really do anything to be honest" she said chuckling. "it's fine, you did help plus you kept me company" I said. She smiled as I smiled back

"alright red, how about we go drink or eat something" she suggested. "sure why not, I still have some time before my curfew" I said. She nodded.
