"Are you this is what you want, my lady?"

Soleil looked from her beloved demon to the fire dragon that held her gaze. His eyes were full of apprehension yet excitement. She knew in that moment that nothing could ever mean more to her than the demon before her. She was ready for the invisible string.

"Yes, I love him." She answered giving Ghirahim's hands a squeeze.

"And I love her."

Eldin nodded his head in acceptance.

Ghirahim and Soleil had traveled to Eldin's domain to declare their love to one another and bind their souls together.

It was the invisible string ritual. An act that would transcend time and space itself that could never be broken.

"And you, demon lord, Ghirahim," Eldin said turning to Ghirahim. "Once this is done you can never go back."

"Why would I ever want to if you're here?" Ghirahim answered giving Soleil a kiss on the forehead.

He squeezed her hands as the two watched the fire dragon.

Eldin dove into the lava. When he emerged, in his talon was a glowing white strand of string. It had some lava dripping off of it.

The string itself was so fine and small that it was a wonder that Eldin could even hold it. He murmured words that only the gods understood, and a ray of golden light engulfed it as he pressed it between his claws.

It was like how he created glass.

He would take refined sand and crush it between his hands after exposing it to his fire or lava and it would become a glass piece.

Eldin held out the string to the couple giving them the motion to turn face him.

"I, Ghirahim of the Surface Realm, bind my soul to thee."

"I, Soleil of the Sacred Realm, bind my soul to thee."

Eldin dropped the string and it descended upon the couple. Once it touched their skin it turned a deep red.

It wrapped around their wrists until it reached their pinkie fingers. With the string tied to one another, they reached out and touched one another. A billion lights shot from them and the string disappeared in a start leaving celestial stars in the air around them before those faded too.

"May your invisible string bring you both the strength and harmony that you both seek." Eldin recited. "May you find one another in each life no matter the distance, time, or trials that you two may endure."

Ghirahim and Soleil were bound by the red thread of fate.

"You love being the goddess's little pet. Admit it!" Ghirahim snarled.

"Enough!" Soleil cast a stasis spell on Ghirahim to keep him from moving.

His autonomy was completely stripped from him in an instant. Her heart sank at the flicker of betrayal in his eyes before it was replaced by rage.

His entire being began to glow red as the flurry of diamonds which was one of his figure moves began to surround them.

"My master was right. You will never change."

"Stop. Stop... letting him twist your mind. You're a good person Ghirahim. Don't do this. Soleil pleaded.

Her toga that looked like a representation of a sunrise was torn and tattered along with her hair which was usually very neat atop her head was down. She looked sick as her eyes had a desperation to them while her skin was far paler than it should have been for anyone.

It was the poison.

Her goddess status was being slowly depleted, and her body was failing her as a mortal's vessel could never house a goddess's spirit in the way it was being forced to. She could have immediately given up her divine form to be reborn mortal, of course, she could have done that. However, a reincarnated goddess could never have the power that a goddess did. Her ties to her power, divinity, memories would all be severed if she did that, and right now, in order to save the Surface, Soleil needed to remain a goddess.

"My mind ISN'T twisted. He has shown me the truth both you and that wretched goddess try your best to hide."

"It's much more complicated than that."

"Really? To me—to everyone not basking in Hylia's light—it seems like she loves those who put her on a pedestal then tosses them aside once their usefulness is over. After all, why else would she allow the genocide of my people? Afraid we were too powerful and would turn on her?"

"It is not my fault. I tried to stop it once I saw it would happen, but Hylia stopped me. I cannot interfere with fate."

"So, you learned she stands by and lets everyone suffer. How could you possibly be okay with that?"

"Fate is not for me to rewrite no matter how much I want to."

"What about your brother? How could you watch Hylia abuse him for eons?"

Erebus, god of darkness, and Soleil, goddess of the sun, equals in every sense except in matters of the heart.

Hylia and her people loved and adored the young goddess while they feared and villainized her dearest older brother. He was made the scapegoat for every inconvenience, every evil that pierced their hearts, every little thing.

He stood in her shadow for so long he forgot what the sun felt like.

Yet, Soleil let her brother suffer in silence as she was buckling under the pressure that Hylia put on her. Erebus always saw through Hylia, and because of that, he always faced the full brunt of her divine wrath.

"Everything she does is for the greater good of her people and for me and Erebus. I may not always agree with her, but I know in my heart this is the right thing to do."

"Demise was right. You've fallen too far to even realize it. He is the one who is truly bring peace-"

"Peace? How can destroying the world bring peace? He is committing a genocide on the world because of his grudge with Hylia. How could YOU ever be okay with that?"

"Some sacrifices are worth taking."

"You aren't my Ghirahim. My Ghirahim would never say something so cruel. He loved this world and the people here. You're not the love I fell for."

The air around them was now raging against them. It fit the rage in Ghirahim's heart as the flurry of diamond became even bigger and more violent tearing up the room.

"Then you leave me no choice."

And with that, the stasis was broken and Ghirahim ran his rapier through Soleil's stomach disappearing as she fell to her knees coughing up blood."
