However, Gunlok finds out about this. And the poison wasn't working. Reason why? Gunlok has a disturbing past. the Guard that tries to help the MC and the other kids is the right hand man for Gunlok. His name is Dreyfus. 

     Dreyfus was a kid when he met Gunlok. he had a loving family, a little sister. His father was a successful blacksmith. And when he was of age, he learned and took the passion of blacksmithing. But one day. A group of raiders, sacked the village he lived in. Commanded by a large, beastly, and dirty man named Gunlok. He rounded the entire village up. And when he stated they'd all become slaves, Dreyfus' father stood up to him. Causing him to get decapitated by one slash of Gunlok's sword. Then, he stood proud, and stated his morals to the town. 

  "Men are not meant for this world of love and caring. That is for the weakest women. Men should be animalistic. We should do what we want, and only follow the path. To Hell with morals, to hell with societal obligation. I want to kill, I kill. I want to conquer, I conquer. I want my way with women, I will get my way. And weak men are useless, cannon fodder.'

 He then states that the women will be sold, the men will be killed or turned to slaves.  And the children will die. 

   Horrified, Dreyfus tries to attack Gunlok and he finds it amusing. Gunlok teases him, he keeps egging young Dreyfus into giving in to his instincts and just goes off. Dreyfus however is unable to hurt Gunlok, and drops to his knees crying for his dead dad. His Mom runs to protect him, but Dreyfus yells at her to get his little sister away from him. Gunlok looks around and sniffs the area. He smirks and shoots a rock through the head of the mom and the rest of Parents. Making them all drop dead. The kids cry in pain as Gunlok yells at them to shut up. And He explains what's going to happen. "You're going to grow up to be my slaves.."

 Gunlok, wanting to torture Dreyfus, takes a liking to his little sister. And keeps her as a wife. She (being 13) tries to run many times. But she's unsuccessful. She's groomed and controlled for years, until she finally gives birth to Gunlok's kid at eighteen. Gunlok, distraught it was a girl, decides to take a sadistic and demonic route to world domination. He looks to the Dreyloks*.

And sacrifices both his wife, and his daughter to the Devilish Dreyloks, unlocking his demonic power. He can transform into a Bear at will, with monstrous strength in both forms. He's attained the power he always wanted. but becoming a world leader bored him now, he only wants to do what his wild will dictates. He works for the King now, as an guard captain. He uses his position to get what he wants, he uses his strength to do what he wants, he uses his power to be what he wants. 

 And, Dreyfus has been playing along to one day avenge his sister and his niece.  Now,  your prolly wondering where this all leads. Well, Gunlok finds where the camp of the rival group is and gets there before Dreyfus could. Transforms into his bear state, and mops the floor with them. By the time Dreyfus and the kids get to the camp. Gunlok has already begun feasting upon the corpses of the soldiers. To a horrifying site, Dreyfus fearlessly makes one last attempt to avenge his sister.

     In a battle that, would be longer if the other wasn't a bear, marked the sacrifice of Dreyfus, The Main character makes a run for it, But is stopped by Gunlok in his bear state easily defeated Dreyfus. 

 "You know. I would take you back to camp, and punish you. But leaving you out to die here would be the only act of mercy I will grant you." Gunlok says, as he transforms back into his human state. 

  Leaving the Main character to die in the woods.  Tied up, and gagged, to the mercy of the wild. 

  Until a WhiteEdge Knight walks by, and rescues him. He is the leader of "The Vorpal Blade." A group of knights that work for the commonwealth of WhiteEdge.  His name is Pilaf.
