I: Welcome, Zen! Congratulations on your win in the Bloomers' Awards. So, for the starters. Tell me about yourself and about your writing journey.

Zen: I go by ZenCave in Wattpad, but anyone could just call me Zen. I am a college student and I would call myself an easy-going person. About my writing journey, it started when I was very small. I was interested in writing short little stories, but that passion faded away over time. When I came to my teens and started to make up different stories and plots in my head, I rekindled my writing passion and started putting my imagination into words when I was 18. And then I started to publish my books on Wattpad last year! I am very happy that I decided to do that, otherwise, all those words would forever be in my imagination!

I: That's wonderful! What made you just hit that publish button after joining wattpad?

Zen: It's the books that I read on Wattpad that did it. Before publishing I spent almost 3 years there just as a reader, and seeing the interactions between the authors and the readers made me smile. The happiness those authors expressed motivated me to push my words into the screen. It made me want to explore more and express what I had on mind too.

I: That can be a great driving force, yes. Could you tell me more about your wining entry? What was your inspiration behind writing it?

Zen: Racing Towards Your Heart begins with friendship and romance, and towards the end, it establishes drama which will continue on to its second book. To give a brief summary, it is about how their relationship blossoms through a series of challenges. However, things prove to be life-threatening and nerve-wracking as the main character finds herself entangled in a problem that could harm her lover's life, but it could only be solved if she puts an end to their story...

The idea for 'Racing Towards Your Heart' hit me randomly. It was one of those moments when I thought of the ending first before the beginning of the story. Gradually, the idea grew over time and I made up and imagined bits and pieces of the plot here and there during the most unexpected times be it while I was travelling somewhere or when I was staring at the ceiling of my room waiting to go to sleep.  I do not remember if there was a direct inspiration behind this book as it has been so long since I thought of this plot, but I feel that the initial idea just hit my imagination randomly while I was off to dreamland or possibly when I was left to my own thoughts!

I: This is unique! What types of genres or stories do you usually write? What do you like the most about your preferences?

Zen: Thank you.
I mostly write about romance with some touches of mystery or adventure. Sometimes it may not be so, since the new book I am writing about is mainly supernatural, mystery and thriller combined with some romance. So it may vary according to my taste. But I can assure you that the romance and drama element is sure to be there! I really like some drama in my books!
I want to make the plots as unique as possible. I've read many books that blew my mind and it made me think about the limitless range one can have about story ideas. So I want to explore more unique concepts and plot twists that nobody sees coming. I think that is what I like about my preferences; the ability to shock readers through your story!

I: What is your inspiration source to keep writing? Is it a quote or an author (off or on Wattpad)? What keeps you 'writing'?

Zen: My inspiration for writing is simply my want to showcase my story to the world. I feel like if I kept my imagination inside me without putting it out, I would just combust! I also stand by the fact that I should finish what I started in matter how long it takes me.
Of course, one of my biggest inspirations driving me to keep reading is definitely my readers. Be it one or two, I would definitely keep writing for them. Their support means the whole world to me. If not for them, I would not have considered coming this far.
The first time I published my story, it was hidden in the vast world of books on Wattpad, and there were no reads whatsoever, which drove me to delete the book.
But then I tried once again after some polishing up, and it was able to garner some attention. It made me so happy and motivated.
So I say that it is the readers who definitely inspire me to go on, and they help me to fire up my passion for writing even more. I am forever thankful to them.

I: Aye! That's amazing. What would be your advice for new and aspiring writers?

Zen: Thanks! My advice would be not to be afraid of what others might think of your story. Write for your own satisfaction. There might be times you may lack the motivation to write but trust me, you will miss it. You will get right back on track, believe in yourself! Never give up on your passions! Research more and take valid advice, don't be scared to do so. Don't put a lid on your imagination, open the lid and let it all flow out! Take the utmost pleasure in writing and enjoy yourself!

I: Sounds very helpful!

Zen: Thanks! I hope it will be helpful one day to someone!
