5 years ago:
I opened my eyes and I groaned loudly,
I can't believe I was able to pull an all nighter,
Finals week is coming and I need to ace every single one,
I promised Mr. Park that I would have the top 10 best grades in my class,
Mr Park and my dad knew each other for years, he has a few companies here in the states and he also has a few in Korea,
"If you work hard for amazing notes I'll make sure to land you an incredible internship here, or even better - he had said - in Korea!"
I don't really identify myself as smart, I've just been working really hard to get good grades to land a job that will allow me to not only survive but also have a few little treats every now and then,
I sighed at that thought,
I wish life was more than that, but it isn't
I stood up from bed and took a quick shower, I needed to go to the library and get some more studies materials since I was done with the ones I picked up a few days ago,
On my way to the library I bumped into a hard back, because I was too busy with all of the books on my hands to even pay attention to the halls,
I looked up to find Eun sung,
I think he's doing some PHD in economics, I've heard stories about him being absolutely ruthless,
I've always minded my own business so whatever chit chat students have about each other does not particularly interests me,
However, there was something about Eun sung being always by himself and people not really liking him that has always made me kind of sad,
He's a jerk, obviously, he's always ignoring people, treating them badly, cussing them out, rejecting girls left and right (I've heard he's in love with a girl but, who knows? No one really knows what he's thinking NEVER)
- I'm sorry Eun sung, I didn't saw you there - he nodded -
- library? - he said, and I know what you're thinking, "omg are you guys friends?" No we're not, he also knows Mr. Park, apparently Eun sung has worked a bunch of times with him, and they're.. close? I guess, every time I visit Mr. Park he's already there,
Mr. Park introduced us about a year ago and even asked Eun sung to take care of me since I've just started college (2 years in, is still freshman, leave me alone) I sighed and nodded back -
- Goodman's final is hell on earth - he smiled softly and nodded -
- I'm going there as well, I need to find a book, can I go with you? - he said nonchalantly, I just nodded back -
- I thought you were supposed to meet with Mr. Park today? - I asked on our way there, he lifted his brows surprised -
- aren't you paying too much attention? - I laughed, he looked at me, I could feel his burning, weird eyes on me -
- I am, only with Mr. Park though, he sort of became my dad after my own passed away - he hummed -
- I heard him calling you his daughter, I understand now - I looked at him and I laughed -
- what? A dark short man can't be the father of a tall pale ghost? - he shrug his shoulders looking at the ceiling -
- you never know - I nodded, and we both stayed silent until we reached the library -
- see you around - I said before going in, getting lost in the thousands and thousands of books of our college big library -
Current time:
I wouldn't say Eun sung and I ever became close,
Not one bit,
But I guess to Eun sung standards I was the closest to what being "close" to someone is,
I kept bumping into him at college and at Mr. Park's house,
There was a time where they started to have meetings around me,
But I just didn't care about what they talked about so every time they would start with "their business" I would just grab a book from Mr. park's library and read until their meeting was over and then Mr. park and I would go to his club and spend time together, he really was like my dad,
I sighed sadly,
He passed away shortly after,
And I stopped seeing Eun sung, I heard he went back to Korea because he was going to do business there,
A few months after Mr. park's passing one of his lawyers came to my college room,
I called it a miracle back then,
Nowadays I call it hell, hell's work,
Mr. Park had made an agreement with Eun sung, he was going to take me in as his secretary,
I know, not the thing I went to college for,
But Mr. Park always said you can climb the ladder and be just as successful,
Mr. Park had also given me one of his many many apartments and left me a substantial amount of money to spend, save or whatever I wanted to do with it (in his own words) what I didn't know back then is that I would have to move to Korea and start a new life there,
At that moment I had finally understand why Mr. Park had taught me Korean,
I always thought he wanted me to be trilingual since my mother tongue is not English, but I guess he had been planning a bit more than what I could have EVER imagined...
And that's how my life in Korea started, and that's how my life got sucked in in Eun sung's,
From that moment on, I had no life, it was Eun Sung's now
And I fell for it..
I feel like I've been working with the devil
And he is oh so beautiful.
