"Wake up Abby, class is over".

In just a second I am awake. My friend, Erica, is looking down on me as I try to quickly gather the things I laid out to seem that I was paying attention to the lesson.

"Come on, hurry! I don't wanna miss the bus!"

"I'm going, I'm going" In record time I am out of that door and walking as quickly as I can to be able to catch the bus.

"It's always the same with you."

"Don't worry we will get there in time". If somebody heard us on the street they would probably think we were merely walking together out of convenience since we both catch the same bus but that is not farther from the truth. Me and Erica have been friends for as long as I can remember. We were always in the same elementary and the same high school and now by some miracle, we were in the same course in the same college.

"See I told you we would get here in time" I turn to her as we sit in the bus, me in the hallway and her, always, by the window.

The truth is I don't need to catch the bus every single day. My family is, unfortunately, of quiet wealth. I may seem hypocritical, living a luxurious life and then complaining about it. But the truth is I miss how things were. How my life, my family, my house, my relationships and everything else was before the money came. I miss it dearly.

Erica is aware of my money, but she doesn't mind it. She is not wealthy but not poor either. In her words "I live a comfortable life with what I have and I don't envy you in the slightest".

We don't talk much during the bus ride, after spending the whole day together there isn't much to say. My stop comes first then hers so as I'm leaving we exchange a quiet "Bye!" as I jump off the bus and take a silent walk to my house.

As I enter through the front door I don't hear anything, as usual. My father is probably at work or in an important meeting and my mom is most likely taking her pilates lesson.

I go up the stairs to my room and as soon as I put my things down I hear: "Abby is that you? Come greet our guests."

Great, I think, all I wanted was to rest for a bit and enjoy the house to myself and now I have to pretend to be the perfect daughter to meet some future investors or some family friends that I never heard of until that very moment.

I don't shout anything that would be "impolite and not lady like" or so I have been told before, I go down the stairs and walk to the living room. There I am greeted with the figure of my father, my mother, some strange man and another one more my age or so it seems since he has his back turned to me. They are being served by the maid some lemonade.

"You called mother?" I politely say.

"Yes. I want you to meet the Grants. This is Mr. Grant - she says pointing at the older gentleman who stands up with a warm smile to greet me- and his son Alex Grant." The son doesn't get up as the father, he simply turns his head to the side and slightly nods. A nod so quick that if you blink for a second you would be able to tell it happened.

"Pleasure to meet you all."

"Sit down, Abby. There is something we should discuss" Oh no. These words are never good. Either they caught something I did or they did something and since this matter isn't being discussed privately they probably did something.

I sit down in order to try to calm down and prepare for what is about to come. My father continues:

"We were talking and since you and Alex are almost the same age, only a few years apart - I honestly can't tell who is older- perhaps you two would consider a relationship?" Shit.
