The problem with comming out

Carina: Oh i know. I'll wait on her. Wait, are you crying?

Kathy: No. Its fine.

Carina: oh come on.

She walks over to her. Sits down.

Carina: Whats wrong?

Andy comes up. She sees Kathys tear stroked face.

Andy: Come on. Now you have to tell me, whats wrong?

Kathy quiet: its my mom.

Carina: Is she hurt or sick? Is she at the Hospital?

Kathy: No. ... she kicked me out.

Kathy is now crying.

Carina: What? Why?

Kathy:... Cause i'm gay.

Andy: Oh. Kathy.

The two women sit next to the girl and try to comfort her.

Kathy: i though she knew, i mean we never talked about it. Its not something my mom talks about, but we haven't talked a lot about anything the last year or so. But i though she knew or atleast didn't care. She never said anything against it aswell. .. oh i'm so stupid.

Andy: You aren't stupid. What happend?

Kathy: She had these leaflets morning before last shift. She was folding them and i took one and read it while i got ready and i was shocked. I asked her if she really believed that content, Cause if she did she was wrong, cause i am gay and i like girls and i am not sick, like that leaflet said.

Carina: What did she do?

Kathy: She stood up and she looked so utterly dissapointed and angry. I was so scared. But she said. 'you have 10 Minutes to get out.'

Andy and Carina gasp.

Kathy: i tryed to explain, but she just said the same thing again. And so i took some stuff and went to work. I was so confused but last shift i just forgot about it. And when it ended, i went home. She was home and said. 'now you decided to stop that nonsence?' i said no, and that its not going to stop. And she just yelled. "Then get out. No child of mine is like that. Its filthy and i do not want to see you until you agree."

Andy and Carina exchange looks.

Andy: But you know shes wrong.

Kathy: i do. I do. I think.

Carina: You are not filthy. We are not filthy.

Andy: where have you been the last three nights?

Kathy: The first two nights i slept at a friends house. We weren't super close but my two best friends are away for college. She let me stay but her mom kicked me out. She didn't even listen. She just said her daugher will not be seen with runaways. She made me feel like such a burden. And so i left.

Carina: what did you do last night?

Kathy: i went all hunger games. I climbed a tree in the park and i sat on a high branch. But i didn't sleep at all. I was so scared.

She cryes again.

Kathy: it was so scary.

Andy: That wasn't save.

Carina: But now you are save.

Kathy sobs

Andy and Carina comfort her.

Andy: You know what, why don't you stay with me. Just until you find something for yourself. I have a good guestroom.

Kathy: Really? No... I can't do that.

Carina: Yes you can. I would have offered, but i am about to have a baby in like two weeks. And our guest room is now the nursary.

Kathy: You are the best.

Andy: Its the least i can do. And i help you find something. I am really good at finding flats.

Kathy: Thank you so much.

Scene 6

Maya: Carina hey.

Carina: Oh Maya. I was waiting for you. We have another check up in a hour.

Maya: Yes. But its in an hour. And i need a shower. But you are so beautiful.

Carina: You are, too.

Maya: I am sweaty and dusty.

Carina: Yeah that, too. Hey. I had an idea and i don't know if its a good or a bad one.

Maya: Spit it out.

Carina: Kathy told us her mom kicked her out for being gay.

Maya: Oh.... Damn...Then she has every right to be pissed.

Carina: She was so deverstated earlier. Andy and i comforted her. She is gonna stay with Andy, until she finds a place.

Maya: Yeah. That is good.

Carina: I thought we could host a party. Here at the station. And invite all our lgbtqia+ friends and allys. Her mom called her filthy. I want to show her that she is not and that she is by not alone and loved and make her feel proud.

Maya: i love that idea. Its just Beckett...

Carina: i'll ask him.

Maya: you' d out Kathy. And i he is not the guy that should know.

Carina: Why don't we do it somewhere else.

Maya: Yeah... (Yells) Hey Vic.

Vic: Whats up?

Maya: Listen....

Scene 7

Song: "Teenagers scare the living shit out of me" playing, while Maya, Carina Vic and Travis prepare the Party at Vics parents Restaurant. They decorate and Carina sends invites to all her friends and Maya to Seatle fire queers.

Andy and Kathy get the guest room ready. Kathy naps

People are coming. Amelia and Kai, Teddy and Owen, Taryn, Mika, Schmitt, Jo and Link. Warren Bailey and the kids.
Everyone wears coulerful things.

Andy: i'm hungry. But i forgot to go grocery shopping. Wanna head out?

Kathy: yes. I'm starving. And i feel really good after that nap.

Andy: Okay. Lets go. I know where to go.

Kathy nodds.

Andy guides Kathy to the Restaurant.

Everyone: Suprise.

Kathy: its not my birthday.

Carina: No. But we thought you needed some rainbow support.

Maya: We invited our lgbtqia+ friends and allys. So you know, you are not alone.

Travis: if gay people know one thing, it is to party and to support eachother. So this is perfect. MUSIC

Music starts. Everyone dances, and it is fun.
