"..M- MK..I- I-.."

"Shut up and drive."

The silence was deafening after that, MK sitting there with an impatient scowl plastered across her face, Julia nervously driving, trying not to blur her vision with tears so she could keep her eyes on the road.

She pulled into a parking space infront of their school, turning off the car and unbuckling her seatbelt, stepping out of the car and waiting for MK to do the same as she pushed her car door closed.

MK stiffly got out of the car, slamming shut the door, causing Julia to wince at the loud 'BANG!' that came from the car. Ouch..

Julia walked slightly down the parking lot, as did MK, and Julia reached out to hold MK's hand, but the shorter girl quickly pulled away, scowling. They always held hands when going into school..

Julia sighed, crossing her arms over her chest, walking a bit faster so she wouldn't have to deal with MK being in a mood.

The blonde trudged into the tiled halls, her sneakers clacking against the floor as she let out a heavy sigh. She found her way to her locker, putting in the code as it swung open, revealing some books, polaroid photos of her and MK, pens and pencils, etcetera. She glanced over the variety of items in her personal storage, though her gaze seemed to fixate on one particular possession of hers. One singular photo of her and MK. It was the two sitting on a bench at a nearby park, gazing at the sunset ahead of them, holding hands. She smiled at the memory, but then it was wiped off of her face, just as quick as it came.

She felt bad. Had she done something wrong..? Why was MK so upset with her? She thought she had done everything right, so why was it not enough for her girlfriend, her light, her favorite person, her everything?

Julia shook her head, brushing off the thought. She had to get to class, anyways. So, she took out what she would need for her first class, and pushed her locker closed, then turned to walk down the halls once more, though her steps felt heavier than usual, more..Gloomy, and downbeat. She wasn't smiling like she usually was, she couldn't smile, how could she smile in a time like this? Her girlfriend was upset with her, she couldn't be happy. If she was happy when MK wasn't, it just felt selfish of her.

She strolled into her classroom, sitting down in her usual assigned seat, her head propped up against her hand, her elbow digging into the desk almost painfully but not quite. She glanced around. Everything was the same as it was last week, and the week before, and the week before the week before, and the-

"Goodmorning, class!" A masculine, older voice spoke from the front of the class. It was Julia's teacher.

She glanced up at him, listening to most of the lesson, it was just all the same boring stuff she always had to learn.

..But about halfway through, she started to think. She needed to know why MK was so upset, so she could fix it ASAP. She couldn't stand the thought of MK being upset with her, so it had to be resolved instantly. So, she thought of the possibilities.

MK mentioned that she hadn't spent much time with her. Could that be it? It couldn't be, she had spent almost every hour of her day with MK every day. Whether that be in person, on call, through text, playing games online..

Maybe it was MK's mother? Maybe she was just more stressed at home lately, so she had taken it out on Julia. I mean, she did ask to stay over last night...

She was lost in thought for a while, until she flinched at the sound of the bell ringing. She sighed, and got to her feet, grabbing her possessions and walking out of the class.

She strolled down the halls, lost in thought again. How could she make it up to MK? What could she do to help that wouldn't upset MK even further? What if she tried to help and instead of it helping, MK snapped and broke up with her? She couldn't stand the thought of losing MK. She can't lose MK, she can't lose MK, she can't lose MK, she can't lose MK, she can't lose MK,

SHE CAN'T LOSE MK.

[ MK POV ]

I walked aimlessly down the halls, planning to skip class as per usual. I didn't really see a point in going to class today, so I simply made my way to the bathrooms, locking myself in a stall and waiting it out, scrolling on my phone.

While I was sitting there, on my phone, I heard quiet footsteps, and little sniffles, as if someone was trying to cover up sobs by holding their breath. I held in a laugh, thinking of it as pathetic. I heard this mystery person go up to the sinks, putting their hands on the rimming of it. I tried to climb up onto the toilet and peek over the stall to see what they were doing, or who they were, but my short legs failed me once again. Typical.

I sighed in annoyance, rolling my eyes, until I heard this mystery someone pipe up.

"I-..I'm gonna lose her..Aren't I..?" A familiar voice spoke, of which I knew all too well.

"Julia..?" I mumbled out, louder than I meant to.

"Wh-..M- MK?"

Shit.

I sighed, "yeah. That's me.."

I unlocked the stall and stepped out, glaring at her.

To my surprise, she ran to me and wrapped her trembling arms around me...Even though it was unexpected, I wasn't complaining. Maybe being mad at her pays off sometimes, she gives me extra attention. I slowly lifted my arms from my sides, and hugged back, burying my face in her shirt. She rested her head atop mine, and I could almost feel her tears soaking through my hair.

"I- I'm so sorry, MK, I just-" Julia sputtered, before I cut her off.

"Don't sweat it, Jules. It's fiiiiine." I giggled, rubbing circles into her back, trying to soothe her. I didn't feel like dealing with a crying Julia after school. I wanted to play games instead, not comfort her...Though, feeling needed was kind of nice, I guess.

"Are you sure...?" She murmured.

I sighed, starting to grow tired of this, but I kept that to myself.
"Yeah, Jules, it's okay. I just...Nothing. I was just upset with other things. Now c'mon, a pretty face like yours doesn't need to be ruined by tears." I smirked.

"H- Heh..Y- Yeah, sorry.." She sniffled, pulling back as she wiped her face, looking down to the floor.

[ TIMESKIP -- AFTER SCHOOL -- THIRD PERSON ]

The final bell rang, and the two scurried out of the school doors, giggling to themselves as they talked about random topics--albeit, mostly drama or gossip. They got into the car, and Julia started driving. It was a much more peaceful drive than the last. Though..Julia caught herself bouncing her leg up and down anxiously a few times. She wasn't sure why, but it just happened.

The car came to a gentle stop as they reached the parking space at Julia's house, as she powered off the car, pushing open her car door and sliding out of her seat, as MK followed suit. The two walked inside, and instantly into Julia's room, sitting down on her bed.

They kept talking for a while, eventually playing some games, and they cuddled for a bit aswell, until Julia eventually interrupted the comfortable silence, tightening her grip ever so slightly around the short girl's waist, pulling her a bit closer.

"MK?" She murmured, nuzzling her head into MK's shoulder.

"Yeah? What's up, Jules?"

"Can I talk to you about something..? It's..Kind of important."
