Four days had passed since meeting the emperor, who seemed to have no intention of leaving him alone. He even invited him, along with Athanasia, his older sister, to his overly fancy and royal boat where they were currently sitting.

Honestly, this boat has the potential to be his slacker area. It's peaceful, and the scenery is so beautiful that he would sigh contently if the tyrant wasn't in front of them. The presence of the tyrant emperor dampened the mood, overshadowing the beauty of the surroundings.

"Your hair is sparkly and pretty, PAPA!"

Cael sweatdropped as he looked at the one with the cheerful voice. Athanasia displayed remarkable bravery, acting cute and endearing towards the tyrant emperor without stuttering. Meanwhile, he is sweating furiously.

He watched them as they conversed lamely. It was a one-sided conversation, if he was honest. Athanasia did all the talking, while the emperor appeared disinterested, merely boredly looking on.

He made no effort to join their lackluster and tedious conversation. He couldn't relate at all, and he didn't want to entertain the tyrant emperor even more.

'This must be the day, isn't it?'

He felt a sense of déjà vu as he pondered his question again. Recalling the event that happened in the book, this was the day when Athanasia had fallen into the lake because of magical creatures disguised as blue lotus flowers.

Her father, the emperor, didn't bother saving her until she had drowned enough. He just watched her struggle as if it were entertainment.

He contemplated whether to save her or not. Honestly, he had no desire to exert himself or endure pain. He is not a heroic person, far from it. He had no intention of sacrificing himself to save someone else.

What he despised most was experiencing pain and facing death. Regardless of the circumstances, even if he were rolling in a pile of dog shits, it would still be better than being dead or suffering from a painful injury or anything of that sort.

But if he was honest, he couldn't bear to watch a person who was struggling to live and suffering to stay alive. He could see himself in those people. He hated that fact, and he could remember the painful past buried deep in his heart.

'Will things happen the way they did in the book?'

He is unnaturally calm. He even felt a sense of foreboding, telling him that this was the calm before the storm. He didn't dwell on it for long, shifting his gaze from the lake to the emperor, who had turned away from his daughter.

'An example of a jerk...'

"HELP!!.... KERGHHH!!"

KUGHH! BURHGG!

His occupied mind snapped in an instant as he heard that drowning voice. He looked at the source and saw Athanasia swimming with all her might as if she could die at any moment.

A sudden force pushed him into the lake, and he couldn't help but get drowned too. He couldn't help but reveal his ancient power.

'What the fuck is that force?!'

He didn't have a choice but to use his Indestructible shield. He felt that he would drown too if he didn't use it to avoid being overwhelmed by the gripping force.

Since he is already in the lake, he saw no reason not to save Athanasia. He averted his gaze from the gasping girl, meeting Claude's indifferent eyes. The emperor watched them without any emotion, What a horrible bastard!
