“I never experienced celebrating my birthday
as grand as inviting friends to come to eat,
as big as having the whole town in our house,
as fun as receiving many many gifts from different people.

And I wanted to experience that, too, as a child,
not until I died and revived again as someone new.

The only thing I can remember is that,
the last time I saw myself in the mirror, I know I have
the bones of a kid. And now they grew bigger into something
terrifying,
like the monsters under my bed.

The first thought that came into my mind was,
maybe they entered my body when I was asleep.
And they don’t want to experience birthday parties,
all they want now is to not reach
the next year that will come
because it’ll just make things worse.”
