Sirens were nearing our location and the volume of the chatter around me went up a few notches. My eyes were half-closed and I was yearning to go to sleep when I saw Alec leaning against a black car, so I struggled to stay awake for a bit longer.

He held a flashlight in his hand and shone it into the eyes of every agent passing by. His gray hoodie was drenched with rain and his hair had flattened due to the water, which seemed to fuel his seemingly bad mood.

"You're alive," he sighed when Logan stopped in front of him.

"Oh, don't sound too happy about it," I replied sarcastically.

"I was hoping you'd be dead so I wouldn't have to wake up at one in the damn morning anymore."

"Aw, so you do care about me," I cooed in a groggy voice. Alec's scowl deepened, then he proceeded to shine the light in my face. I cried out and buried my face into Logan's shirt as the blots in my eyes grew from the sudden flash.

"Darkwood, she's injured!" Logan snapped.

"And I was sleeping. Sparrow's a big girl, she can handle a couple of bruises."

"She was shot, you dumb ass. Show some sympathy."

"She wouldn't have gotten that bullet wound if she had been a normal human being and called for my help," Alec retorted. "But no, she had to go running off on her own. She couldn't even wake me up, she just disappeared and got herself injured. I won't be showing any sympathy to her."

"I wrote in the note that the house was bugged," I spoke up, peeking at Alec. "Stop crying because your beauty sleep ended before noon. No amount of rest is ever going to fix that face, Alec."

"You want me to give you a wound to cry about?" he threatened.

"Logan, Alec is making threats," I called out, my words starting to slur. "You should do something... since you're...body...guard." By then, it was hard forming coherent sentences and the world tilted as my body grew limp and my head dangled back.

"Shit," Logan cursed. "I need Archer's badge. She has to get to the hospital but she doesn't have her wig."

Alec snorted. "Tough luck finding Archer. He's grounded."

"He's what?"

"I have it on video." I could practically hear the grin in Alec's voice. "I'll show it to you later. There's an ambulance that just arrived and Elijah should be around here somewhere. He was called in as a Dragon, so he'll have his badge."

Logan didn't waste a single second removing us from the conversation to go hunt down my cousin. With every step he took, I felt my consciousness slipping away, and the desire to sleep began to overwhelm my senses. Soon enough, my vision began to darken and the loud sounds around me faded away into silence.

The last thing I heard was Elijah's voice, calling my name over and over again before I gave into the numbness and my mind floated off into an empty space.

Logan

He watched as the paramedics shut the fiery red doors, sealing Park behind them, before the engine started and drove off. Three cars led the way and three more trailed it. Logan knew Elijah was by her side, but an anxiety still stabbed at his nerves.

Please let her be okay, he thought, digging his nails so hard into his palm that when he looked down, red marks scarred his flesh.

"Why didn't you follow?" Darkwood asked, suddenly appearing at his side.
