Star Steel is an incredibly hard material to make. It can be made one of two ways; the quick but unstable and the long but stable.
The long but stable way of making it is tedious; digging a deep hole that's lined with silver refined during an eclipse or under the light of the December Lights filled with water of the Full Moon Spring infused with the seeds of a Nematon, labradorite, a pure prism, skeleton flowers, the blessing of an ancient Celestial/Time/Spirit/Dark kitsune, star flower, pure star crystals, bells of Ireland, Crown Imperial, Dame's Violet, Diphylleia, Edelweiss, Enchanter's Nightshade, witch hazel, winged seeds, rainflower, purple orchid, and a pint of blood from the maker ending with a burning stone of Comet's Stone then it's left to brew for 500 years all while reciting the 1000 Staleric Commandments everyday.
The quicker way is much the same way except it's left to brew for however long [the time is shortened depending on how powerful the maker's soul and magic is] with only saying the commandments once. In combination with the long brew time and the reciting it calms the magic in the star steel and keeps it from splintering and turning into dead mana or exploding like 100 grenades.
-Dead mana is a lot like miasma; it comes through like an invisible fog and lays waste to everything living in its path. It starts subtle with the animals becoming restless then the plants dying leading to places where no life but the acclimated can live. It's how deserts exist; they are what's left after the dead mana dissipates. Dead Mana can go away with one of two methods; waiting it out or washing the area with high level pure celestial magic or a tedious cleansing ritual.
Despite being incredibly powerful and having lived on Earth for a VERY long time, Yuu doesn't really know much about outside human life. He tries his best; it's why he goes to a human school every 125 years as well as getting odd jobs, but he's always alone, his Aelstrelis instincts and way of life don't exactly jive well with human nature. Aelstrelis' always give off an air of mystery, an air of danger, an air of something not right. It gives others uncanny valley vibes; for the humans that is, for the supernatural he's like an unreachable protector, like some otherworldly being that is so ancient it causes an ambient vibe of protection to the point it's unsettling.
Aelstrelis' are long dragon-like creature reminiscent of the Long, or the Amphithere, or the Wyvern, or the Leviathan, or the knucker, or the basilisk, or even the hydra. They are characterized as having sparkly or pearly bodies, pale nebula eyes, many little sharp teeth, starry looking breath, large bodies, the ability to shrink and grow at will, fast reflexes, high immortality, strength, endurance, speed, sleek bodies, and feathers when allowed.
A bit of their magic is anything celestial, shield manipulation, manipulation of certain metals, a general feel of ambient energy, minor metal abilities like telepathy/telekinesis, and rebirth though explosion of stardust. They also have latent abilities to learn languages at a quickened rate
Being that Aelstrelis' are beings practically made entirely of stardust; both new and ambient, eventually that stardust dies and thus they literally explode and become a pile of dead stardust. Now this isn't to say that they are officially dead; they functions much like phoenixes in that they rise from their ashes, but they're different in that they can only rise when their ashes are under a lunar or solar eclipse OR a full or new moon/any other major astrological event. There IS a sort of sub species called Royal Aelstrelis that allows them to revived under the essence of the constellation or star [VERY rarely is it both star and constellation] they embody [that essence is kept in a special object that's kept secret from everyone, even family and friends, with the exception of their mates].
-In Yuu's case it's Eltanin and Corona Borealis and his item for Eltanin is a necklace and Corona Borealis' is a fan/odachi combination.

Yuu's form looks like a cross between these two: he doesn't have a pouch of the top, he's covered in thousands if not millions of little scales on top of the fur, he has the tail of the bottom image as well as all of the wings of the bottom while having the wings of his top being his only webbed ones; he has the general body shape of the top including the head shape and horns while retaining the little spikes of the bottom that are back its head. The main difference is that his webbed wings have modified claws used for climbing.
