A Thirst for Virtue, Suffocated

We surge downhill
Past our past glory
Through fields of pleasure
Our soulstones wane

Our ways of cruelty
Silently spewed venom
Selfishly landed punches
They tenderize us and them

The high ones behold
And see in us anomalies
Fading in and out
Of ripples in time

We may not bear
The inexplicable cost
Of vile habits long entertained
We may not bear each other

I hardly foresee anymore
Our fate permitting
My old self's ventures
To the marketplace and back
For unlikely is my own blade
To be my own downfall
The tormentor's seat stands not vacant

This experience is one of
A silent observation
Of the merciless severance
Of a dream of human unity

Damn my sensitiveness
Damn the prophecy fulfilling
Damn this ever unforgivable
Cradle of blatant injustice

Oh, how wrongdoers get away with it
