Where I come from

I am from a land of sunshine

A land I always call mine

It's a land where the sky is always blue

A land so beautiful you'd have no clue

Until you go there yourself

I am from a land of slaves

a land of graves

It's a land born out of rebellions

A land sculpted out of battalions

I am from a land of bravery

Of men not afraid of treachery

I come from La Perle Des Antilles

I come from the Pride of the Carribean Sea

I come from a land of poverty

A land of hunger, cruelty and adversity

A land that has fallen

I come from a place everyone hates

A place criticized, scorned, laughed at

I come from a land of hope

of a beautiful, tenacious people

who will rise again
