Chapter Five

WAKING UP early in the morning getting ready to go to my mothers nursing home I get in the shower and start washing my hair and body, after my shower I make my way to my room and start getting dressed.

After getting dressed and eating breakfast me and Meredith make our way to the nursing home. Walking into the nursing home we go find the person taking care of her

"The lawyer has been managing her estate, with a limited power of Attorney, but with your mothers Alzheimer's is advancing so, while she's still lucid enough to consent, she needs to sign everything over to you two" the woman said looking at us

"Us?" Meredith asks looking out the window towards our mother who I haven't seen in months

"Look she hasn't slept in 48 hours, my sister is getting her first shot at heart surgery, and we're missing rounds, are you sure there isn't anybody here, or the attorney, I mean do we really have to be the ones handling this" I ask with a shrug and a tired voice

"We're talking about her estate, finances, medical care, you really want to leave her life in someone else's hands, she's your guy's mother" the woman sitting across from us said

"I could care less to be honest" I said to the woman sitting across from us,getting up from my chair and leaving the nursing home, walking toward the car I get in and close the door behind me waiting for Meredith to finish talking to the woman.

After a few minutes of waiting I see Meredith walking towards the car, she gets in the car starting it as we finally start driving to work

"What did she say" I ask mer as she drives around the corner

"She said they will call me sometime today and we'll make an appointment with the lawyer" she said, driving down the road we can now see the hospital in our sight

When we get to the hospital Meredith and I rush to the locker room getting changed into scrubs and tying my hair up in a low ponytail, before I leave I walk up to Meredith and wish her luck during her first heart surgery."Good luck on your surgery, I'll be up in the peanut gallery watching" I said putting my hand on her shoulder

"Thanks" she said looking down

"Don't stress to much about it, I'm sure you'll do great" I said giving her some reassurance

"Okay well I'm gonna head out, I'll see you after your surgery" I said walking out of the locker room to the peanut gallery above the O.R her surgery will be in

As I'm watching the surgery I notice Meredith close her eyes for second before she falls forward a little

"I wish I could hold a heart" George said watching the surgery from beside me

"A monkey could hold a heart" Christina Shots back

"George We need more ice and chips" Izzie said walking into the peanut gallery with a mug and clipboard in her hands, taking a seat beside Brooo

"Who else did you invite?" George asks with curiosity

"Izzie, we ask the list was jocks only, Surgery, trauma, plastics, who else?" I ask leaning forward so I could see her
