"I told you it was nothing, why are you getting all pissed off?"
"Because last time it was nothing it ruined our friendship Avani. I thought we said no more secrets?" Nessa nearly stormed out of her own bedroom when Avani grabbed her by her arm firmly, pulling her into a kiss.
"No more secrets. I promise." Avani said, pulling away from Nessa's sweet kiss.
"Then tell me what was going on when I came out of the bathroom. A kiss isn't going to solve anything."
Nessa walked off, leaving Avani standing in the doorway, puzzled at what had just happened.
Nessa placed the strawberries on the counter and leaned against the door frame, hoping Avani would just talk.
"I said sit. I don't need you near anything sharp or something you could pitch at my head." Avani tried to joke around to shed some light on the moment but completely failed.
Nessa just rolled her eyes, pulling a chair far away from Avani and sat down, crossing her arms.
"That was-" Avani paused, and then Nessa got up and stormed away, once again.
Avani didn't chase after her this time. She just gathered her items and went home.
A few days passed and Nessa still hasn't heard from Avani so she knocked on Mrs. D'amelio's door, hoping she was awake.
"What's up honey?" Mrs. D'amelio calmly questioned while opening her bedroom door.
"Could I please borrow a car? Avani and I had a fight and we haven't talked since, I just wanna talk to her and not over the phone."
Nessa never really asked to borrow the car unless she really needed it.
"Go on honey. Take the Kia, keys are on the table. Please be safe."
"I will Mrs. D'amelio. Thank you." Nessa trotted out the door after snatching the keys off of the table.
She got into the car and started it up, pausing to take a deep breath.
"Fuck." She mumbled, pulling out the driveway.
As soon as she arrived to Avani's house she knocked on the door, her heart pounding out of her chest, just hoping Avani doesn't turn her away.
She finally opened the door, bringing Nessa out of the cold rain.
"I didn't know you were coming. I have people over." Avani said while sitting Nessa down on the couch.
"I'm sorry I- I can leave." Nessa got up but Avani stopped her by grabbing her arm.
"No, stay. They can wait. Why are you here?" Avani let a long breath out, showing her frustration.
"Because Avani. We said no more secrets, you kept a secret and it fucked our friendship up. I'm sick of doing this one sided friendship and I'm sick of having to chase after you when you ignore me for days at a time. It's getting old."
"You can leave now." Avani said, getting up and going upstairs.
Nessa ran out the door, slamming it behind her and got in the car and broke down into tears.
Right before she pulled out the driveway a girl was leaving Avani's house, Nessa recognized her from biology, it's Sabrina.
And the same red lipstick that was on Avani's lips was on Sabrina's cheek.
And then Avani came out, the look of worry and fear in her eyes when she saw Nessa still sitting in the driveway told it all.
Nessa pulled out of the driveway and drove home, tears pooling up in her eyes, just begging to be let out. She tossed the keys on the table and ran to her room, tossing herself on the bed and crying into her pillow.

A few days passed.
Nessa thought she was fine but more days pass and she realizes that she feels lonely again.
"Yeah. I think she's doing much better now honey, come by another time though... she's still not ready to see you." Mrs. D'amelio said to Avani before closing the door.
Nessa... wasn't getting better.
Part of her knew she wanted Avani for herself but the other part couldn't deal with her mood swings.
Nessa couldn't get the imaginary images out of her mind of Sabrina and Avani making out in her bed, it was almost like it was too real to be imaginary.
Today Nessa started it out normal, crying before a shower, brushing her teeth and wearing something comfy to mope around and cry in.
But then Mrs. D'amelio shouted for her.
Nessa walked downstairs, thinking she was in trouble but she saw Avani standing there with flowers and a small bear.
"Why are you here" Nessa asked, not making eye contact with Avani.
"Because I wanted to say I'm sorry, is that fine with you? Or should I just head out? Because isn't this what you wanted Janesa? Didn't you want me to apologize?" Avani set the flowers and bear on the table and watched Mrs. D'Amelia walked out the front door.
"God Avani what has gotten into you? You got a taste of being popular and it's like I'm not even talking to my best friend anymore. I'm talking to a fucking wall."
"Come on. Come to your room." Avani said, taking Nessa by her wrist, practically forcing her to go to her bedroom.
They both sat on the bed, Nessa starting to cry.
"Don't cry... please. I know what you seen Friday looked weird okay? And I know you have feelings for me Nessa. I really do know that and I know I feel the same way, but dating your best friend seems so cliche, and I also know that people will talk-"
"Let them talk then. I don't give two shits." Nessa said, her tears falling faster.
"Let me finish talking. I knew that when I kissed you it would only make the feelings strong Nessa, but I don't think I can commit to a relationship right now."
"Avani... I'm not asking you to fully commit. I'm asking you to take it slow and not rush things but keep it loyal, don't let anyone in our circle. Without you I feel so lost and empty and I'm just not myself. But if you don't want to I get it. I understand. But you got to stop ghosting me."
Suddenly Avani's lips landed on Nessa's.
Avani cupped Nessa's face, deepening the kiss.
"Girls I'm back, come help me put groceries away please." Mrs D said, knocking on the door, making Nessa and Avani jump apart.
"Okay be right down." Nessa said with her cheeks turning red.
"Can you forgive me? Please?" Avani asked while looking into Nessa's eyes.
"Yes Avani, I forgive you." Nessa smiled before jumping up and running downstairs.
