Tears of Transition

In the depths of my journey, I roam,
Through memories of happiness, now gone.
Once tears were my solace, my familiar zone,
Panic attacks, my shield, I thought I'd outgrown.

But whom am I deceiving with this charade?
Panic grips me, for your absence, I'm afraid.
Love for you, a path where my time decayed,
Ignoring red flags, in the darkness, I stayed.

Putting you first, my self-esteem's demise,
Lost in self-doubt, under beauty's guise.
A shadow of myself, walking on thin ice,
Creating perfection, my own sacrifice.

Now, here we stand, both journeys done,
Blame laid upon me, for battles won.
Yet, I realize, I let you overrun,
Now, in self-discovery, a new day's begun.

With support, I found the strength to flee,
From the chains of your toxicity.
Now, embracing freedom, I choose to be,
No longer captive to what used to be.
