Part 8: Did I Interrupt?
You have been with the team for about two weeks now and are officially an Avenger. While you haven't gotten to go on your first mission yet, you are enjoying getting to know everyone, especially Wanda. At the moment, everyone is in the training room doing simple workouts. Steve and you are using the punching bags, Natasha and Clint are sparring, Tony is tweaking something on his suit with Bruce watching over his shoulder, and Thor is showing Wanda an ab workout.
Once the training is complete for that day, you decide to go take a hot shower. After finishing your shower, you notice you forgot to grab a shirt. You proceed to throw on your shorts and sports bra before walking out of the bathroom. "Wanda," you say in surprise as you see Wanda sitting on your bed, evidentially waiting for you.
"Y/N" Wanda says while taking in your toned form. You see her slightly shake her head before she looks away. "I'm sorry. I wanted to talk to you and figured that I would wait on... I'm sorry, I'll leave." She says flustered as she stands to leave.
"Wanda, it's okay. It's not like I'm naked." You say trying to lighten the mood. You can sense Wanda's discomfort, so you quickly find a shirt and put it on. "So, what did you want to talk about?"
"I, um." Wanda stutters before sitting back on your bed. She pats the spot beside her, so you proceed to sit next to her.
"Is everything okay?" You ask in a skeptical voice.
"What? Yeah. Everything is fine. I hope." She says the last part under her breath.
"You hope?" You ask now being worried.
"What? Oh yeah, enhanced hearing. Never going to get used to that." Wanda says and we both laugh. I only smile as I turn towards Wanda, letting her think about what she wants to say. "Y/N, I..." There was another slight pause, "I don't know how to start so I'm just going to say it." She sighs before looking me directly in the eyes. "I like you Y/N, and I can usually read people but with you I..." she stops as she notices my raised eyebrow. "And I don't mean by reading their minds." We both share another light laugh. "But seriously, I like you Y/N. A lot. You aren't like anyone else I've met and, and I'm kind of rambling because I haven't done this before so feel free to jump in at any time." Wanda rushes out, looking at me with both hope and worry. All I can do is smile. I don't know exactly what to say so I decide to gently grab her hand in my own. My smile grows as I quickly glance at her lips before returning to her eyes.
"I like you too Wanda. Always have." This brings a relieved smile to her face. "Since first being introduced to all the Avengers, you were always the one that I felt safe around." We both smile stupidly at each other. As I was about to lean in, there was a knock at my door. I sigh deeply and Wanda laughs at me. Not wanting to put any distance between Wanda and myself, I use my powers and open the door to reveal Nat.
"Did I interrupt something?" She asks with a knowing smirk on her face. I guess our close proximity gives enough evidence of what we may have been talking about.
"Nope." Both Wanda and I say at the same time.
"Yeah okay. Tony wants us all in the common room. Something about a team party before the mission."
"Yeah, we're coming." You say before standing, pulling Wanda out the door by your still combined hands.
At the party, everyone is a few drinks in while talking about ordinary life. "What? No, you would be a bartender. Just think about all the free drinks you could get. Well, look who finally decided to join us?"
"Welcome to the land of the living." Tony says handing them each a drink.
"What about you Y/N? You're the one with the most normal life. What did your ordinary job look like?" Thor asks while pouring himself and Steve some of his Asgardian alcohol.
"First of all, did you just say a werewolf has the most normal life?" You ask while laughing. "Secondly, I was a dog trainer before I ran away." This makes Bruce and Tony laugh hysterically.
"Isn't that cheating?" Nat laughs taking a sip of her beer.
"Not to me. I was actually a kennel trainee before I got bit."
"So, you've always had a thing for dogs and now you are a werewolf?" Tony laughs even more.
"Yeah, make fun of the Alpha who can rip your head off with her teeth." You say rolling your eyes and lean further into Wanda's side.
"Just ignore him Y/N." she says while wrapping her arm around you. The both of us share a smile before turning our attention back to the others.
Many drinks later, "Okay, I think we all need to call it a night." Steve says while taking Tony's umpteenth drink from his hand.
"Yes, good idea. Don't forget about our mission tomorrow. 9 AM sharp." Tony spits out before staggering to his room. The rest of the Avengers follow suit, as Wanda wishes you a good night and retires to her room.
