Chapter 4

“Girls, pass me those flowers over there”, said Teddy, my grandmother.

We walked towards the flowers Teddy pointed out, and we gave it into her hands.

“So darling, I never catch your name, what is it”, teddy asked.

I looked over at the girl suspiciously, hoping she’ll say her name sooner or later.

“Oh, my name is Sara, Sara Richens”, she said calmly.

That’s when I remembered her name like it was yesterday she told me it. I sighed in relief that I invited her over, I didn’t have to be lost when I speak to her.

“I like that name Sara, it fits you perfectly”, said teddy.

Teddy was studying Sara intimately, she wasn’t even blinking but she stopped and went back to her work.

“You girls, could go inside the house and gets some lemonade for yourselves”, said Teddy.

Sara and I went inside and got ourselves some lemonade, we both stayed quiet as we drank our drinks, but of course Sara had the decency to stop that.

“I like you grandma, she’s nice”, she said quietly.

“Shh, don’t let she hear you say that word”, I said jokingly.

We both busted into fits of laughter.

“Wow, is she really that serious about her age, I mean she looks like she’s in her forties.”

“She really don’t care, just don’t say that word around her and she’ll lay off you, okay.”

“Alright.”

Then we took our sip off lemonades again, enjoying the view off my grandmother’s porch.

“Thanks for inviting me over Teddy’s house”, said Sara as we stopped in front of her house.

We left Teddy’s house and we decided to walk, surprisingly she lived three blocks away from me.

“It’s no big deal”, I said smiling from ear to ear.

“Well see you later, Ren”, said Sara as she went inside her house.

Ren?

That was a first, no one has ever given me a nickname before, and I actually like it.

At home, I sat down starred at the food. that was in front of me. Sydney decided to come over and cook us some diner that night. Of course we looked at the food like it was in grousing. She said it’s called ‘lasagna’.

“How is it”, she ask me unexpectedly.

I thought of something right to say top her, but I couldn’t think of anything at all.

I picked up some of the food on my fork and placed it inside me mouth.

“Um, it’s really good”, I replied.

And it wasn’t lie an either, it was really good, very cheesy. I continued to eat my cheesy lasagna. I took a glanced at dad and I saw his plate was clean, I was surprise because he was the last person to eat around here.

“Dad?”

He looked at me, and he shrugged his shoulders.

“What, I was hungry”, he said innocently.

Then Sydney started laughing with her mouth open, food was splashing all over her mouth. At that moment it was funny, but when I think about it now, it’s pretty disgusting.

Dad and I looked at her, and we began to laugh at her.

She looked at us innocently and she asked, “What?”

Dad chuckled and said, “It’s nothing, don’t worry about it.”

“So Renny how was school today”, asked Sydney.

I thought about my day today, thinking about how Sara was pretty nice, and funny too.

“It was okay, my friend and I visited Teddy, dad’s mom, yea it’s was nice seeing her”, I said.

I continued with my food not wanting to see my dad’s face expression when I mention ‘Friend’ in my sentence.

“Oh, yes I’ve meet Teddy, all I have to say, is that she’s funny I have to admit that part.”

I looked at Sydney spectally, “You’ve meet her before?”

“Yea.”

And that was the last conversation for the night, after I was finished with my lasagna, I headed upstairs and I went straight to bed. That was a change, I never went to bed after dinner, it felt new, different, I guess.
