Riley's P.O.V

Chase and I were in my room as he was helping me study for a math test I have coming up which is counting toward half my grade for the semester. And well I suck at math. I'm like Adam when it comes to this stuff.

"So what does X equals?" Chase asked as he pointed the tip of his pencil at my paper.

I squint my eyes trying to think of the answer. "Uh....." I stuttered.

"Come on, Rye. You kinda solved it back when we were on the train." He points out.

I groan in frustration. "That's different! Math might be easy for you but not for me. So can you try to take it easy on me!" I half yelled.

"If you tell me where you having trouble I can help you. That's why I'm here." He reasoned with me.

I groan again getting up from my bed. "I don't know!" I half yelled again. "It's like... something is missing from my brain—everything else I can do besides stupid math equations. I feel like I'm missing something and I just don't get it. when I'm out fighting coming up with solutions to win just comes naturally!" I explained with a huff.

Chase stares at me as he almost feels sorry. But he tried not to show it. "Okay...." He starts to say. "What if we look at it like this." He explained it as if we were doing a mission. "Then..."

I started to see the problem in my head. "Then it would make X equals---." I asked.

Chase smiles brightly at me. "Yeah! There you go."

I go back over to my bed with him. "You just gotta take your time. It's okay to go slow once in a while."

I chuckled nervously. "I hope so."

Why does he make everything seem so much easier?

The next day at school

"Oh! Check out what I've done with my locker!" Adam said as Bree and I walked over to his locker. "Tah-dah!" He said when he opened it.

Bree and I gave each other weird looks.

"Here's where I keep my books. Down here I keep random strands of hair I've collected to make fake mustaches. And here is where I stockpile old lunches, or, as I like to call it, tum-tum yum-yums." Adam explained pointing to different parts inside his locker.

"Just...why?" I crossed my arms over my chest giving him an odd stare.

Leo then walks over to us holding a piece of paper in his hands. "Hey, Leo. What's that?" Bree asked.

"My progress report. I can't believe my science teacher says I'm always late to class." Leo said shaking his head.

I eyed him. "You technically are always late for that class." I pointed out. I'd sometimes catch him playing video games.

"I know that, but I don't need it publicized." He retorts.

Then Chase made his over to his holding his own progress report.

"Look at this! An 'A-minus'! I knew my Home Ec teacher had it out for me. Always criticizing my muffins." He complains about his grades.

"I told you to do Blueberry muffins! Who likes rasien muffins anyways?!" I told Chase he should've gone with my plan.

"Ha-ha! I beat you! I got a 'D-plus' because I'm better!" Adam beamed, holding his progress report.

"Adam, the 'plus' is -yu know what? It's just not even worth it anymore." Bree said not bothering to explain it to him.
