As Grayson's car sped down the familiar streets towards school, a sense of anticipation gnawed at the edges of my mind. There was something different about him today, an air of secrecy that hung heavy in the air, leaving me feeling uneasy.

"Why are you in such a rush?" I couldn't help but ask, curiosity getting the better of me he had made me sit in the back which means we are picking someone else up or he's mad at me.

Grayson glanced at me, "We're picking someone else up on the way to school," he replied cryptically, his tone tinged with excitement.

I raised an eyebrow, intrigued by his vague response. "Someone else? Who?"

He flashed me a grin, refusing to divulge any more information. "You'll see," was all he said before focusing his attention back on the road.

I sighed, resigning myself to the mystery that lay ahead. But as we pulled up to the curb outside Julia's house, a surge of surprise and confusion washed over me.

"What are you doing here?" I blurted out, unable to mask my astonishment at the sight of Julia standing on the sidewalk, her expression unreadable.

Julia's eyes met mine, and for a fleeting moment, I caught a glimpse of something in her gaze—a flicker of uncertainty that mirrored the turmoil within me.

"I... uh, Grayson and I are..." she stammered, her words trailing off as she exchanged a hesitant glance with Grayson.

But before she could say anything else, Grayson cut in, his voice smooth and confident. "Julia's my girlfriend," he announced,

The words hit me like a punch to the gut, sending shockwaves of disbelief coursing through my veins. Girlfriend? Julia?

I felt a surge of anger and betrayal bubbling up inside me, but I pushed it down, forcing myself to remain calm in the face of the unexpected revelation. "Is that so?" I managed to choke out, my voice strained.

Julia nodded, her expression a mix of apprehension and worry. "Yeah, that's... that's right," she replied.

I swallowed hard, struggling to process the flood of emotions crashing over me. Betrayal, jealousy, hurt—all of it swirling together in a tangled mess that threatened to consume me whole.

The drive to school felt like an eternity, each passing moment weighed down by the heavy silence that hung between us. Grayson's casual whistling grated on my nerves, a stark contrast to the turmoil churning inside me.

"So, Jameson," Grayson finally broke the silence, his voice casual yet tinged with a hint of tension. "How's things with Emily?"

I clenched my jaw, struggling to keep my emotions in check. "Fine," I replied tersely, my gaze fixed on the passing scenery outside the window.

"Good to hear," Grayson said, his tone carefully neutral. "You know, you should really make a move. Life's too short to waste on missed opportunities."

I resisted the urge to roll my eyes, frustration bubbling up inside me. "Thanks for the advice," I muttered, my voice laced with sarcasm.

Grayson glanced at me briefly before returning his focus to the road ahead. "Just looking out for you,"

The rest of the drive passed in tense silence, each passing mile bringing us closer to the inevitable confrontation awaiting us at school.

As we pulled up to the curb outside the school gates, I braced myself for what lay ahead. Stepping out of the car, I took a deep breath, steeling myself for the awkward interactions that awaited me.

Julia followed suit, her eyes cast downwards as she trailed behind Grayson. I caught her gaze for a fleeting moment, but she quickly averted her eyes, a silent acknowledgment of the rift that had formed between us.

With a heavy heart, I made my way into the school, the weight of the morning pressing down on me like a leaden blanket. The familiar chatter of my classmates fell on deaf ears as I trudged through the halls, lost in a haze of confusion and betrayal.
