kat stood at the front door of the triplets place, waiting for someone to let her in. finally, the door opened and nick was on the other side. "hey!" he said pulling kat into the house. "be quiet."
"nick," kat questioned, "do chris and matt know i'm coming?"
"um, no," he told her. "don't give me that look. they'll be so happy. trust." nick led her through the house to the living room where chris and matt were sitting, mindlessly scrolling on their phones.
"did you get the food?" chris said without looking up.
"nope," nick said to him.
chris and matt whipped their heads up, eyes widening as they notice kat next to nick. "oh my god," chris exclaimed. "kat!" chris got up and crossed the room towards kat and gave her a big hug. kat hugged him back but from over his shoulder she made eye contact with matt, giving him a small smile which he returned.
"um, chris," nick said. "help me with the food."
"but-"
"now," nick demanded. chris looked at him weird, then back to matt and kat, then a look of realization crossed his face and he left the room.
"hi," kat said to matt. nuck made it very obvious what he was doing, leaving the room with an awkward air.
"hi," matt said. "how was chicago?" matt tried to keep the air normal, but he wasn't doing a very good job. kat walked over to the couch and set down on the other side of him.
"i'm sorry i left without saying anything to you in person. i should've told you in person i was leaving," kat blurted out. "it was really shitty for me to do and i promise i didn't do it for the fucks of it. i just am really happy i'm back and i missed you and chris and nick so much when i was with my mom. i really don't want things to be awkward or anything i just want things to go back to how it was."
"kat it's okay," matt said to her after she was done rambling.
"are you sure? nick told me you weren't mad or anything but he could've been lying and-"
"i'm not mad, i promise," matt assured her. "i'm just happy you're back." kat couldn't help but smile at that just as chris and nick reentered the room.
"nick was lying about the food," chris said, unhappy. "feel like going to mcdonalds or any other restaurant?"
