Chapter Thirty Three [ARRC]

My smile faltered at the mention of Bea. Victoria had confided in me about this woman, a persistent admirer with eyes only for her. I couldn't blame her, really; Victoria was a force to be reckoned with. But if Bea dared to make a move on her, well, let's just say she'd have me to contend with.

Victoria's grin widened as her gaze locked with mine, and I could feel the familiar flutter of anticipation in my chest. "I know what you're thinking," she remarked, a playful snort escaping her lips. "Just keep it calm with her there."

I raised my hands in a mock surrender, a smirk tugging at the corners of my lips. "I can play nice," I assured her, though the thought of tolerating Bea's presence churned my stomach.

"Good. You can begin at lunch, she has unfortunately wriggled herself into it," Victoria informed me, her expression a mix of resignation and amusement. Ugh, Bea. The mere mention of her name made me want to hurl.

As we reached the beachside, the crashing waves and salty breeze greeted us, a welcome reprieve from the suffocating tension. A vacation wasn't complete without a trip to the beach, even if it meant enduring Bea's company.

"How much time do we have before lunch?" I inquired, my gaze drawn to the rhythmic dance of the waves. Victoria checked her phone, a brief pause before she replied, "A little over an hour."

"That settles it," I declared, clasping my hands together with determination. "You and I are taking this free time and using it to take a walk. On the beach."

Victoria seemed hesitant, but I wasn't about to let her objections spoil our moment of freedom. "The sun is shining, the water is sparkling, and you need to relax," I insisted, gently guiding her towards a quaint beachside shop adorned with colorful swimsuits.

"And you'll look great in this swimsuit," I added with a mischievous twinkle in my eye, plucking a vibrant piece from the rack and holding it up to Victoria, envisioning her radiant figure against the backdrop of the ocean.

"Only if you wear this one." A mischievous glint danced in her eyes as she held up the swimsuit, its neckline plunging deeper than the ocean we were about to dive into. So much for her attempts at self-restraint. "Deal," I chuckled, unable to resist her playful challenge.

After exchanging a few bills for our chosen swimwear, we made our way to the changing rooms, anticipation bubbling beneath the surface like the waves crashing against the shore. As I slipped into the swimsuit, the fabric hugged my curves in all the right places, and I couldn't help but admire my reflection in the mirror. Damn, I looked good. And those sunglasses? They added an extra touch of allure. "Those really suit you, Ivy," Victoria's voice chimed from behind me, pulling my attention away from the mirror. I turned to face her, a sly grin tugging at my lips as I drank in her appearance. She was a vision of temptation, and I couldn't shake the urge to pull her into my arms right then and there.

With our transformations complete, we stepped out onto the beach, the soft sand cushioning our steps as we ventured closer to the water's edge. The sea breeze kissed my skin, carrying with it a sense of freedom and tranquility that I had been craving. "Now this is what this entire weekend should be, don't you think?" I sighed contentedly, stealing a glance at Victoria. But her gaze wasn't on me; it was fixed on my barely-there swimsuit, tracing every curve with an intensity that sent shivers down my spine. Caught in her scrutiny, I couldn't resist teasing her. "My eyes are up here," I quipped, relishing the way her guilty expression morphed into amusement. "I wasn't—You had—" she stammered, her eyes flicking up to meet mine with a mixture of embarrassment and amusement. Oh, Victoria, you're so predictable.

My gaze lingered on her chest for just a moment longer than it should have, her warning bringing me back to reality with a sharp jolt. Damn, she caught me. But why does she get to ogle me without consequences? Oh well, I'll find a way to turn the tables later.
