Hongjoong couldn't help but suppress a smirk of amusement as he observed Seonghwa's deliberate indulgence, each sip of the ruby liquid seemingly adding a glint of mischief to his already twinkling eyes. The dimly lit tavern provided the perfect ambiance for their clandestine gathering, the flickering candlelight casting playful shadows across the worn wooden table.

Seonghwa's typically composed demeanor seemed to dissolve with each subsequent glass of wine, replaced by an uncharacteristic recklessness that both intrigued and amused Hongjoong. The elf's sudden departure from his usual restraint hinted at a hidden story that begged to be uncovered amidst the haze of alcohol and whispered conversations.

Leaning back in his chair, Hongjoong pondered the possibilities, his mind weaving intricate scenarios of what could have transpired to ignite such boldness in his companion. Perhaps it was one of his crew causing trouble or a long-buried desire finally bubbling to the surface under the influence of spirits and camaraderie.

Regardless of the catalyst, Hongjoong found himself drawn to the enigma that was Seonghwa at this moment, his curiosity piqued by the tantalizing glimpse of vulnerability beneath the facade of composure. As the night wore on and the wine flowed freely, he resolved to unravel the mystery hidden within his friend's newfound audacity, relishing the challenge ahead.

The captain stood amidst the rustic charm of the dimly lit tavern, the soft flicker of candlelight casting dancing shadows upon the weathered wooden tables and worn floorboards. Seated at a corner table, Seonghwa held a tall, slender glass of wine, its rich crimson hue catching the light as he swirled it with a contemplative air.

The tavern's ambiance enveloped them in an intimate embrace, the subdued lighting lending an aura of secrecy to their conversation. Seonghwa's features were partially veiled by a swath of deep blue fabric, adding an enigmatic allure to his presence. Only those positioned directly across from him could discern the subtle nuances of his expression.

Hongjoong, observing from a nearby table, couldn't help but be captivated by the intricate braids adorning Seonghwa's hair. Each plait was a testament to meticulous craftsmanship, adorned with tiny, colorful beads that caught the candlelight in a mesmerizing display. It was a signature touch of San, whose playful spirit was evident in every whimsical detail.

As the captain watched Seonghwa's contemplative movements, memories of shared adventures and camaraderie flooded his mind. The sight of the beads nestled amidst the braids served as a poignant reminder of their bond, and he found himself grateful for the moments of levity that San's playful antics brought to their lives, even amidst the dimly lit confines of the tavern.

However, his stargazing was short-lived.

"I see a hamster has snuck into me bar," a thick Australian accent echoed from behind Hongjoong, causing the pirate's grin to grow into a smile.

The Captain slowly turned in his chair, seeing an old friend. Thick eyebrows, kind eyes, a warming smile, a big nose, and dimples could be seen from miles away. If Hongjoong were a fool, he would have fallen for the man eras ago.

Christopher "Chan" Bang.

"Chan!" Hongjoong cheered, holding his hand for Chan to shake. "I see ye never grew much."
