I'm not leaving you

Start from the beginning

As the protagonist struggled to navigate the challenges of living with short-term memory loss, Regina's façade began to crack.

Hey," I whispered softly,  "It's okay to feel overwhelmed. You're not alone, Regina."

Regina's shoulders shook with silent sobs.

the weight of her emotions crashing over her like a tidal wave. "I-I'm sorry," she choked out between ragged breaths, her voice thick with emotion. "I didn't mean to... to fall apart like this."

I shook my head, my heart breaking at the sight of her pain. "You don't have to apologize, Regina," I said, my voice gentle yet firm. "It's okay to let yourself feel whatever you're feeling. You've been through so much, and it's only natural to be affected by it."

As Regina's tears began to subside, her gaze met mine, and for a moment, we both lingered in the quiet intimacy of the moment. A flush rose to her cheeks, her expression softening as she searched my eyes for reassurance. In that fleeting instant, I felt a surge of warmth flood through me, my own heart racing in response to the unspoken connection between us.

"Thank you," Regina murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. "For being here, for... for understanding."

Unable to resist the pull of her vulnerability, I reached out and gently brushed a stray lock of hair from her forehead, my fingertips lingering against her skin for a heartbeat longer than necessary. "Anytime," I replied softly, my voice laced with tenderness. "I'll always be here for you, Regina. No matter what."

Regina's breath caught in her throat, her cheeks flushing an even deeper shade of pink as she met my gaze with an intensity that sent a shiver down my spine. "You're too good to me," she admitted, her voice barely a whisper.

A soft smile played at the corners of my lips as I felt my own cheeks grow warm under her scrutiny. "I just want to help," I said, my voice betraying the flutter of nerves that danced in my chest.

For a heartbeat, we remained locked in a silent exchange, the air between us heavy with unspoken emotions, until of course Regina's mom enters the room

woman blocker I grumbled. luckily no one heard.

"hey hunny was just dropping you off some lunch, Y/n I brought you some too, I figured you would be here" she smirked at me.

"Thank you" I smiled back

Regina's cheeks flushed crimson as she quickly averted her gaze, her composure returning in an instant. "Um, thanks, Mom," she mumbled, her voice betraying none of the vulnerability she had shown just moments before. "I will leave you two alone" her mom left us be.

"You know," I said, my voice teasing, "you're not fooling anyone with that tough act of yours."

Regina's lips twitched into a small smile, a hint of amusement dancing in her eyes. "I have no idea what you're talking about," she replied, her tone playful yet tinged with a hint of self-consciousness.

I chuckled softly, the tension between us easing as we fell back into our familiar banter. "Sure, Regina," I said, my voice light with affection. "Sure."

"shut up and eat your sandwich" Regina huffed

I picked up the sandwich and began to eat I looked over and saw Regina was struggling to pick it up. "would you like me to feed you" I ask her casually. "what no I'm not an infant, I can do it myself"

I couldn't help but chuckle at Regina's stubborn refusal, her pride still evident despite her recent vulnerability. "Of course, of course," I replied, trying to hide my amusement. "Just offering to help, but if you insist..."

As I watched her struggle to lift the sandwich, a pang of sympathy tugged at my heartstrings. "can you help me ?" she asked.

"what's the magic word" I teased.

"are you for real" she questioned me. I turn my head away from her, showing I was serious. Regina was silent for a moment she then groaned. "please"

"Of course Beautiful" I instantly replied, I quickly tried too back track.

"I mean, of course! I-I can help you, I'm just... I'm just really sorry you're having trouble with the sandwich, I mean, it's just a sandwich, but, uh, it's... it's important, you know? I mean, not really important, but like, it's important to eat, and I wouldn't want you to go hungry, especially not in the hospital, because, uh, you need to keep up your strength, and, um, yeah, so, I'll just, uh, help you with that, if that's okay with you, I mean, if you want me to, I can, but if you don't, then, uh, I totally understand, and I won't, like, be offended or anything, because it's your sandwich, and, um, yeah..."

a small smile tugged at the corners of Regina's lips. "Just feed me the damn sandwich... please," she said, her tone teasing.

I blinked, suddenly realizing how flustered I must have sounded. Heat flooded my cheeks as I stumbled over my words. "Oh, uh, yeah, sure, I mean, of course, um, sorry, I... I didn't mean to... I mean, of course you're beautiful, but I-I just meant the sandwich, I mean, not that you're not beautiful, but, uh, the sandwich, right, yeah, I'll just, um, feed you the sandwich now," I stammered, my words tumbling out in a jumbled mess.
