Snake-like eyes carved into
Your pale skin can be
So well hidden through
Frosted glass of a rosier shade

But I have been taught to carry
My scotch tape with me.

Since the day I placed a piece onto
Those spectacles,

Mud has run through my veins
Sloppy and thick with repugnance.

I've seen your words
that bite at the flesh
And dissolve the unadulterated morality
Of your guileless prey.

This hissing one spits venom,
And I've watched it drip from his teeth,
So eager to puncture and tear.

It floods my ears in a heated mania
And I feel it cling in droplets
Upon my frontal cortex.

I've tried to put into practice
The patience I was encouraged
To always keep sheathed
Upon my ribs, at arm's reach...

But I was not raised to prepare myself
In defense against
Such a seething rot
Of unalloyed abhorrence.

You've made a wretch
Of loving words
Against their will, you've
Desecrated them...

And I
will never

Forget.
