Chapter 1: Baby Steps

I hear screaming, did the doctors and nurses find me in time? I feel strange, weak, small. Why do I feel small?

"It's a girl!! Look at that red hair." She hears a male voice muse, before a cold hand touches her cheek.

Excuse me?

"Oh August, she's perfect." A tired woman's voice is heard.

I open my eyes the image I see is a bit blurred, but I see two individuals, a woman with strange ears, she looks tired covered in sweat, she looking down at me, her breast are mostly in the way though, the valley of them peeking through robes. Her hair is a dirty blond and her eyes they look like blue crystals theirs so striking. The man beside her with his forehead touching the woman's while looking down at me smiles, do I.. see fangs peeking from his lips? His hair is a dark red, and his eyes are also red, like pools of blood, his skin has a tan to it but it's off colored.

I blink a few times before going to scream at the random people near me, only for a loud cry of a baby to sound out, I pull my hands up only discover pale tiny hands in front of me.

The two grown adults look at me their eyes widen the man seems to panic, "S-She crying, do you think I scared her? My fangs arent exactly-"

"Nonsense, she's probably hungry, poor thing did just arrive in the world a few hours ago. She's been so quiet.. I'm happy to finally hear her cry."

It seems I really did die, I've been reincarnated? Really?

The man sighs moving away from his wife covering his mouth, "I guess your right. Babys are suppose to cry, I guess we should be thankful she finally did cry. I know that Stella and Torbek were a bit concerned. I'll leave you alone for a bit, give you privacy so you can.. feed her."

The woman seem to blush but she nods an says a quiet thank you as the man leaves. I don't exactly get a lot of say in this whole feeding situation. Drinking from boobs is a bit strange, I refused to at first but seeing her so frustrated about to cry, when she's already exhausted. I couldn't help but finally give up and just accept my fate.

So this is my life now? I'm.. a baby. This is.. my new mom, and I guess the man that just left is my dad.

For the next 6 months of life I was quite depressed, I couldn't help but cry even when I didn't need fed or a diaper change, I pretty much made my new parents miserable. How can I just accept being thrown into a new life, having new parents, no longer being able to see my old ones? When I told them I wouldn't give up I'd keep trying for them a few more months. I was just beginning to be hopeful again, the treatment was helping it seemed.. but..

My mind flashed to the nurse who smiled at me so sickening sweet like she was doing me a favor, at the last moment I spoke what I've only told myself as I laid in the hospital bed.

"I w-want to live!"

It was over with so quickly.. it's not fair, my parents have to mourn, my older brothers too. I.. began looking on the plus side of things, I can't keep depressed forever! I.. can't keep making other people miserable. On the plus side, I feel great, even given the circumstances. Another thing my parents don't have to worry about new bills just old ones, I can only pray to God that they live a long life and don't mourn me for long. But I know it's just positive thinking.

My new parents, are Ari Truefall and August Truefall. Half elves, the later being a vampire. Yeah I was also surprised. Seems I was reborn into a Fantasy world of sorts. Elves, dwarfs, humans, are all I've seen so far, those definitely didn't exist in my world, nor did vampires. My doctor, mostly called a healer in this world was a drawf woman and the cleric, who does magic and stuff was a human. They both had red eyes like my father, and their skin looked off. I bet their vampires too, they took orders from my dad.
