Ashley, a young student, sat quietly at the back of the classroom, gazing out of the window. She had developed a strong attachment to this particular seat, located in the far corner of the room, since her very first day in the fifth grade. From here, she had a clear view of the entire classroom but was still able to maintain a comfortable distance from the front. As she sat there, lost in thought, the sounds of the teacher's voice and the other students chatting around her faded into the background.

Ashley had always been different from the other girls in her class. While they chatted about boys, makeup, and the latest fashion trends, Ashley was lost in her own world, sketching away in her notebook. She had discovered her passion for drawing at a young age, and it had quickly become her favourite passion.

As she was writing in her notebook, Miss Barker's irritating voice snapped her out of her thoughts.

"Ashley Cooper"?! Belted miss Barker

"Yes miss" Ashley sweetly replied

"Do you know the answer to this question as you were obviously paying attention" stated Miss Barker

"As I matter of fact I do, the answer is x = 2" Ashley answered proudly with a cunning smile

Ashley couldn't help but notice the sudden change in Miss Barker's complexion, which had turned into a shade of deep red. Although Ashley often appeared to be lost in her own thoughts, she had a keen sense of awareness of her surroundings. She found it amusing that people assumed she wasn't paying attention to them when she was, in fact, always observing.

"Well um I see..um yes you are correct, but I guess that was an easy question Ashley I just hope I don't catch you doodling in your notebook again" explained Miss Barker.

As soon as the bell rang, all the kids hurriedly gathered their books and belongings, chattering and laughing with their friends on their way out. Ashley observed them with a mix of admiration and envy. While she enjoyed her own company, she sometimes wished she had a close friend.

Ashley walked back and let herself in her gram's house
"I'm back grams" shouted Ashley

"Hello sweetheart, how was your day" asked her grandma

"It was okay I guess" was Ashley's typical answer
Grandma had the TV blaring loudly in the background as her grandma was partially deaf and had to have it on really loud to be able to watch.

"Well I'm glad to hear you had a good day hunny, the carer came today and dropped some shopping off there's some food for you in the fridge so help yourself dear," said Grams

Ashley, a young child, has been responsible for taking care of herself for the past few years. Her grandmother, who she lives with, has not been well, and Ashley has been doing her best to manage things on her own. Ashley is aware of her grandmother's health and tries not to show her worries, as she doesn't want to upset her. Ashley's daily routine usually involves preparing her own meals, which are mostly microwavable because she doesn't have strong cooking skills.

As the night was drawing in, Ashley finished her pasta and proceeded to clean her and her grandmother's pots. She made sure to scrub them thoroughly, Then Ashley turned her attention to her grandmother who was sitting in her favourite armchair, wrapped in a cosy blanket and watching TV.

Ashley gently approached her grandmother and placed the blanket over her, tucking her in comfortably. She then leaned in to say goodnight and bless her grandmother before heading up the stairs to her bedroom to get some rest.

As she climbed the stairs, Ashley couldn't help but feel a little confused as her grandmother had not blessed her back. However, she assumed that her grandmother had already fallen asleep and didn't think much of it. With that, Ashley settled into bed and closed her eyes, ready for a peaceful night's rest.
