Nyla, a bard with no end goal in sight and no purpose to her life. Since she was born she was constantly moving, exploring and experiencing the world. But she wanted an end to that and the life she lived. She wanted to live a normal life and experie...
We aren't going to start this entry at the end or something horrid. We're going to start at the beginning where it all started, where my story begins. I've started all past leather backed journals with the same thing; what's going on presently, my problems in the moment or my hopes and dreams for the future. Never have I gone back to the very start though of the thing I called my life...
When I was born my mother and father quickly passed away from a disease threatening the small town of Yuperstone, oddly enough it was my olden grandmother that survived with her herbal remedies and magical care of the illnesses. She was the town's doctor, but couldn't save my parents as they were far too sick, so my childhood began with her. She raised and taught me how to be who I was to this very day. My grandmother hardly spoke so I learned through her with actions and music. I figured part of the reason that I was who I was and my magical powers formed into music and animal speaking was because of her and the way I was silently raised. I should probably expand so that my dearest someone can make sense of what I'm telling them.
In Yuperstone and all of the world of Astasia there is magic, now what magic you get and receive is very rarely predictable and the ability to control what you get is near impossible. It's an unknown force but there are few facts we know for certain, the first one being that in order for you to control and summon your magic you must have the object in which you control. Here, I'll write out a few examples.
For instance, I'm a bard and also can communicate and control animals in instances. In able to do this though I need my small flute that is kept with me at all times and Birch, my best friend since I was little, Birch is a majestic blue bird that accompanies me everywhere I go. Now I had a friend in passing and their ability was disguise and able to change their appearance, so they held onto a small sewn strand of cloths that gave them the ability to do so. It was a difficult and hard magic to master but she had grown rather good at it throughout the years we traveled together. So now you have a basic understanding of the magic in Yuperstone and all of the world.
Now about me, I'm a tall beautiful bard as how the people of Yuperstone called me. It was a small town, so everyone was well acquainted with one another, and well I stood out from most of the town. My mother was nicknamed princess when she was young due to her beauty and flawless ability to look like she never aged. When she met my father who was passing through town on his way to the city they quickly fell in love and I was born shortly thereafter. They never married and my grandma was extremely fond of my father and the way he treated her princess in the short time they had. I had my mother's long white hair, and my father's blue crystal ball eyes, I was tall like my mother and had fair white skin. I got both of the best traits from my parents, but unfortunately I got my father's wandering trait too. He couldn't stay in one place for far too long and he constantly liked to move and experience the world. I got that from him, so when my grandmother passed from old age when I was 17, I travelled. I wanted to experience the world outside of Yuperstone. There was so much more out there and I wanted to experience it all. So I did, the town helped me sell my grandmother's house giving me the money I still had till now and they helped me prepare for my adventure. And whenever I felt homesick or found myself near Yuperstone I'd say hello to my grandmother and parents and stay at the local inn for free. But that was where it all began, my need for adventure and inability to settle down but I was at the point in my 23 year old life I wanted to settle down and I wanted to be at peace. I had travelled hundreds of miles and had a place in mind I wanted to stay, a small cottage that was for sale a year ago in the middle of the Everbrunch forest a couple of miles away from the Malite city, where King Lade and Princess Kingston ruled. They were the most civil, clean, and peaceful place I'd visited and everyone there was happy and proud to be from Malite. It was almost a week-long journey and part of me was unsure of leaving Yuperstone forever. But every part of me told me it was time, maybe I'd make some friends along the way I could live with, but I was looking forward to the journey ahead of me. Wish me luck on my adventure because it starts now.
Sincerely, Nyla the Beautiful Bard
I shut the battered leather journal close and put it into my leather strapped bag, sighing and looking around I looked at the bustling town of Yuperstone. I was going to miss it here. I loved Yuperstone, the people here were kind and soft spoken, the town's food was something to be messed with and it was small, warm and cozy here everyday. But I wanted that cottage In Everbrunch forest and I wanted to be closer to the Malite Kingdom.
I pushed myself up from the trunk of the tree from where I sat and brushed the moss and dirt off of my skirt, Birch spoke from above me.
"Are you ready beautiful one?" He asked with his deep voice. The blue bird was my best friend and meant everything to me, I nodded and moved my hair aside for Birch to perch onto my shoulder. I made my way slowly to the town's edge saying goodbye to everyone as I left, humming a soft tune stuck in my mind from a few nights ago. As I looked back at the small cottages and houses behind me and the green trees, children running around and the towns people hollering out I smiled. This would always be my home, it was now my turn though to make my own home. I took a deep breath, setting my hand on the gate and walked out, beginning my journey.
