Crusader University

Chapter 1: Origin part 1

(Authors note, this story is a sequel to a story I made previously, called The Vigilante society, now TVS isn't necessary for reading this story, but it would help you understand some of the characters, and why they act the way they do. Thank you and enjoy Crusader University)

"Hello, I'm Tim Eisenhower reporting with some breaking news, it's been confirmed that a mysterious green ball of light has crashed into earth. But leaving not even a scratch. What could this, strange anomaly be?"
(6 years later)
"Hello I'm Sadie Donaldson, I'm on the scene with a group of parents that all claim their kids have super powers! Take a look at some of these crazy kids!"
22 years ago, 70 percent of all humans on earth were born with a superhuman power of some sort. I was one of the lucky few to be born without one. (I think) you see, kids that were born with powers have an MHP rating (Measurable Herculean Power, Herculeans are what we call superhumans in this society) When I was a kid, I got measured for my MHP rating, and it was as high as it could be. Me and my parents were over the moon, I was gonna be a perfect little superhero. But when it was time for my powers to form... Nothing, no glowing eyes or climbing walls. I was just the same old Austin. Like every person ever, I was obsessed with the vigilante society, and I wanted to be a hero, just like them. And even through I don't have powers, I'm going to make it happen. I'm not gonna sit around writing in a book all day about how I wish I had powers. I'm not only gonna be a superhero, I'm gonna be the greatest.
"Earth to Austin" said my best friend Phoenix waving a hand in front of my face. Despite what people think, Phoenix is not an animorph (A type of Herculean that makes them look nonhuman) because he looks like a chimpanzee. But he's actually the son of a Chinese mythological god, Sun Wukong (Don't ask, it's a long story) Phoenix had a furry face, with bright yellow eyes, and wide open ears.
"You're staring into space again, stop doing that, It's creepy" Said my other best friend Elijah He however does look like a human, he has brown eyes and straight black hair that went to his eyebrows. (His uncle is Zip-shot, the only member of The vigilante society I've ever met, he's really cool)
"Thanks for the input" I said embarrassed.
I had blond, curly, and messy hair that covered my eyebrows. Blue eyes that looked green in the sunlight, but they're always covered by my square framed glasses.
"Did you apply for CU yet?" Asked Phoenix
(CU, stands for Crusader University. The best highschool/College for kids trying to take on the ropes of heroism)
"No, not yet" I replied sheepishly
"You really have to, me and Phoenix are gonna make it to that school without you, and I don't think me and him would survive being alone together for longer than five minutes" said Elijah
"Oh yeah, you guys would kill each other"
We arrived at our middle school and the day went by pretty fast. My day started with my home room, which was my favorite class of the day, I got to spend it with both Phoenix and Elijah, along with it being my favorite subject, science. After science I had English class, which usually sucked as this was one of the class I'd primarily get bullied in, despite what some people may tell you, no two people are ever born equal, one will always have some sort of power over the other, that's just the unfortunate conclusion our world has come too, I have the "privilege" of always being the bottom of our social food chain. It's always the same group of dumb kids, who pick on me, hurt me, and humiliate me infront of everyone I know, just because they know I'm powerless against them. However, I have Phoenix and Elijah to thank, whenever they catch on to whatever those kids are up too, they always scare them off, due to their strength. After English, I had math, which was another bore, but then I had lunch with Phoenix and Elijah, and finally gym, rinse and repeat everyday. Except this day was especially eventful.
On my walk home after school, I mainly listened to music and really forced myself to remember to fill in my application for CU. I guess part of me forced myself to forget, I already knew I wasn't gonna get in. It's the greatest superhero school of all time, why would they accept a powerless loser like me of all people. Phoenix is a literal demigod who can shape shift, summon fire, and clone himself. Elijah is an enhanced human and can dash so fast you see after images of him. It would make sense to choose them, they're totally gonna crush the exam. I don't know what I'd do without an entire Iron-man suit. Then I got kidnapped (sorry for it being so sudden, but that's pretty much how it felt for me) I had a giant bag scoop me entirely up and I was lifted into the air. I was wiggling and squirming trying to get out of whatever had gotten the hold of me and despite what people say NO, I WAS NOT SCREAMING LIKE A LITTLE GIRL (I'm too mature for that, thank you very much) I heard the sound of wind roaring in my ears, along with the sound of thrusters. So I knew it was some machine or high tech thing that was moving me. But after a terrifying ten minutes of rocketing in the sky. I was dropped on the floor, and dragged into a dark room. Finally, a human voice with a robotic filter said
"What's your name, and origin"
"...huh?" I replied
"Answer the question." The voice said with more forcefulness
"I'm sorry, but I just got kidnapped and blasted off to some random dark room, so pardon me if I'm a little confused!"
"I completely understand, but I need you to answer my questions
"Fine, my name is Austin Vazquez"
"And what are your powers, Austin" He said like he's asked this question a million times before
"I don't have any" I replied quickly
"Seriously? Let me check your MHP"
He took the bag off me, and I tried to escape. But I didn't get very far because he threw a bolas at me, and I fell to the ground with a groan
"Not so fast" he said smugly
I turned to look at my kidnapper, and was completely confused. It was The Sapphire knight of all people
"Sapphire Knight?!"
"That's me"
"You kidnapped me!"
"Okay, first of all. I didn't kidnap you, because for all I know you could be a beacon to the end of the world."
"I'm sorry, what?!"
He told me a story about two ancient deities Omnius and Nullity Omnius represented all that exists in the world, Nullity resperested all that doesn't. There was a revealed prophecy that Omnius will crash to earth in an attempt to hide, and seek out a being from this planet to become his avatar.
"And that green ball on earth that crashed to earth all those years ago, was Omnius and I'm searching for this champion." Sapphire Knight said
"Well I'm sorry to disappoint you" I said unwrapping the bolas from my legs
"But I'm no anchient god or whatever, because I have no powers"
"Bullshit"
"No it's not!"
"I scanned your MHP rating, you have powers, the highest rating I've ever seen at that too"
"I know that, I've been confusing doctors since I was 6, the best rating. But no powers"
All of a sudden he put his arm to my neck and I felt a quick prick that stung
"OW, the hell was that for?!"
"Relax, it's just a temporary power boost"
"You gave me super-steroids?! I didn't even know those were a thing"
"They're not, I invented them, I've been trying to recreate the syrum that gave me my powers"
"You weren't born with yours?"
"You'd be surprised, none of the gen 1 heroes were born with powers"
"Woah, weird" I said as I proceeded to pass out onto the floor. In my hallucination I was in an dark abyss, with green skies. And the floors were a green ocean. With nothing else in the distance. I saw a giant green glowing ball, with one black X on the center of it's face
"I don't know if I may speak with you again, so this is my message for you. You must hurry, a man is attempting to summon my brother, if he is made aware of what planet I'm hiding in. He will come, and destroy all that you know. I'm giving you my gift, The Omni Source, use it well.
And suddenly I woke up drenched in freezing cold water. I looked around, dazed and saw Sapphire Knight holding a bucket.
"Did you throw that on me?"
"You were out cold, what did you want me to do?"
"Whatever, doesn't matter right now. I think I'm the Omnius guy or something"
