"I'm Guilty" those were the two words that came out of Cheryl Blssoms mouth which led us all to question what actually was happening in the town
As Principal Weatherbee and Sherif Keller stood at the entrance of our Bio class Cheryl stood up with her hands to the front
Word's out....Cheryl actually lied about what actually happened on the 4th of July. Jason didn't drown that day at Sweetwater River, he wanted to get out of town and Cheryl helped him to escape. So the blossom siblings took a boat and Jason crossed the border of Sweetwater River and later on Cheryl staged it as an accident
Jason's corpse told the story that he wasn't shot on that day but a week later which again made the rumours go wild. We all till now were completely normal thinking that Jason was killed and there will be killer whom we'll be able to find easily but now...it seems like this was just the tip of an ice-berg to a bigger problem that we were about to face
We all sat in the lounge after our classes got dismissed due to this "my dad says everyone of us is a suspect, especially the Lockwoods seeing your rivalry with them" Kevin stated
"What? We came back here only after hearing about his missing/murder whatever shit it was, and just because of this stupid rivarlry they're suspecting us. That's just...great" I say throwing my hands up in frustration
"We all should watch making a murder on Netflix tonight?" Kevin suggested
"Sorry, I have homework to complete," Betty answered
"I'm helping out my mom with her treatment today, so count me out too" I reply as Kevin nods
"How's Aunt Hailey doing?" Archie asked
"Good for now, but the doctors said that we shouldn't be so happy because tumors are like cancer they don't leave the patient until..." I explained stopping in between as everyone remained silent for a second as I felt Jughead's hand across my shoulder as I nod
"Sorry to hear that, I would love to meet her," He said "you can stop by tonight if you want" I suggested
"Well I'm out too, I have a date," Ronnie explained as all eyes went to her
"You have a date! Who?" Kevin asked
"Hey V, I'll pick you up at Pembrooks by 8" we followed the voice and saw Chuck walking out with his football budies
"Chuck Clayton? He's a playboy Ronnie" I advise her as she smiles "don't worry it's just a date," she said
"Besides he's the football Captain's son and the best of all and look at that body," Kevin blabbled
"Suit yourself though, but if you need anything call me," I say as she nods
"Katherine wait up," I stopped seeing a rushing Betty coming my "I'm hoping to re-open the Blue and Gold," she said
"the school register?" I asked "but why now?"
"Because... there's more to Jason's death than everyone thinks there is, and no one wants to admit it. I want to make sure people know what's really going on" she explained as we walked out of the gym
"It's a battle against fake news, it's a place where everyone will know the absolute truth" she completed
"Betty Cooper's inner Journalist kicking in finally! I like it" I say
"So you'll join?"
"Of course Girl, it's really cool"
"And I was wondering if you'd would want to join my team?"
"What team"
"Well it's just Jughead and me for now"
"But why me?" I asked as she smiled back
"The Riverdale charm is you isn't it?" she said as I chuckle
"You've been keeping a watch huh, well I'm in" I say as she squels and hugs me as I laugh
"By the way who told you about the Articles?"
"Someone named Jones, he asked me to ask you," she said "great then I have your assignment, there was someone else at Sweetwater River who no is talking about"
"Dilton Doiley" I say as she nods
"Juggy's waiting outside for you, you guys can interview him" she says as I walk out to see Jughead by the gate as go on to interview Dilton Doiley and boy scouts about the gunshot
Dilton was one such kid that no matter who you are he'll give you creeps it's just the way he carries himself calling himself as a "survivalist" I mean who in scouts acts like they're on a run from people
We reach our destination to find Dilton training these young boys all in scout uniforms as we approach him
"We have something to talk about Dilton," I say as he dismissed his scouts
"If you're here to ask me about Jason's death, then let me tell you I didn't do anything," he claimed
"What were you doing at Sweetwater River on 4th of July?" Jughead questioned
"We were there for our scouts training, and before you start questioning me further let me tell you that we were just passing by as we came across Cheryl" he said while I looking around and saw one of his scouts watching us
"So you didn't hear anything? A gun shot, I guess?" I asked as he nodded
"We didn't hear anything and besides, I told you what I knew, I have studrnts to train to, besides only we can save ourselves all of this mess" he said walking away as Jughead noticed the kid being uneasy as we left
"Did you see that kid?" He asked as I nodded
"Looks like he knows something" I reply as he hummed in response
"I was thinking if you would like some company at thr hospital during your mom's check-up?" He asked
"I would love to Jug, thanks" I say as we head for my house and he meets mom as we leave for the hospital
Jughead, Archie, and Betty all have been visiting my house since they were kids "how's the recovery coming off?" I asked the doctor after he completed my mother's checkup
"She's doing good for her condition, but there's not much recovery till now" The doctor said as I peeped into her room
"Thank you doctor, we'll be coming in for check-up more often,"
"You wanna tell her or should we?" He asked as I sighed hugging Jughead I knew coming backwon't do much good to mom's health but I guess we'll need to find a way out
"I'll do it, but i'm sure ahe knows it already," I say letting go of him and we walk into the room with a smile on our faces
"Let's go home," I say entering the room as mom simply nods smiling, I know she probably knows what the doctor has said and she's trying her best to not get it to me but I guess I'm just a girl scared of losing her mother
