(Y/n) stood on the peer, a deep frown settling on her worn face. The sun had set long ago and she could feel energy wash over her as she stood under the moonlight. She ran a finger through her hair, shaking out the locks. The tide shifting below her gently. It would be soothing if there weren't an aching feel of unease deep in her chest.

She slipped into the water below, slowly sinking to the bottom. She let the Sound carry her deep until she rested at the bottom. She silently thanked her link to Poseidon for her ability to not drown. The water shifting against her as if to say you're welcome. Her forearm tattoo glowed a gentle blue, proving the spell Poseidon had shown her worked. It had been a thank you of sorts, for sticking with his son.

With a loud sigh (Y/n) eased back, enjoying the water enveloped around her skin.

"What are you doing all the way down here?" A familiar voice called from above her.

Looking up, her landed on Percy. She smiled as he swam down to meet her.

"Couldn't sleep. That's all." Hoping he would stop there when it came to questions.

Percy settled next to her frowning, "What is it y/n?"

She sighed, upset he could read her so well, "I can't explain it. The way the breeze blows through. Something's happening. Something big. I just don't know what."

She leaned over, pressing into his warm body. Percy nodded solemnly. If there's one thing he could trust it was y/n's gut. She wasn't a child of Apollo but it was almost prophetic. He watched her carefully as she leaned down to pick up a clump of sand, the grains rubbing against her skin.

"We need a break Percy. I just got you back. I don't want to be thrown into another quest because the fates are decided so."

Percy wrapped an arm around her and drew her in close, resting his head into the crook of her neck. "It's ok, we'll be ok."

Y/n nodded, holding on to him tightly, his embrace easing her anxiety. She wrapped her arms around him, her hands finding his hair and running through it. They say in silence for several minutes before y/n spoke, "We should get to bed. Don't want to get caught by the harpies."

Percy agreed, wrapping his arm around her waist, using the current to propel them upwards. They surfaced and climbed out the water bone dry. They made their way towards the cabins, hands linked. They entered the Poseidon cabin and made their way to their room. It was traditionally against camp rules for demigods with different parentage to sleep in the same cabin. However an exception was made for the two. When they had fallen into Tartarus the only solace they found was in each other. Y/n, being a daughter of Hecate had awoken some kind of deep ancient magic while in the depths of hell itself. Causing the two to soul-link together. An ancient tradition older than the gods themselves and practically extinct. They only found themselves soothed by the others presence.

So Chiron had convinced Mr. D to let them share space, and the Wine god had begrudgingly agreed. It was a fair trade. They helped defeat a primordial goddess and made a great sacrifice. They should at least be able to sleep in the same bed together.

(Y/n) slipped into a shirt and a pair of shorts as she climbed into bed, Percy following suit. Blushing heavily as he pulled his shirt off revealing a lithe but lean build. He could pass as a professional swimmer, if it weren't for the scars that littered his olive skin. Some small and some big. They told a story. One of pain, triumph and suffering. She had no doubt her body looked the same, scars branded into her fair skin. The scar running across her neck deep into her sternum was proof enough. When she was anxious she found herself stroking the ridgid lines of the skin.

Percy joined her and pulled her into him, holding on tight. As if she would disappear if he didn't. (y/n) leaned forward and placed a gentle kiss on his forehead. His fingers traced the lines of the tattoo on her forearm.

She looked up at him and met his sea green eyes, "I love you"

"I love you too," Percy flushed slightly at the words and nuzzled into her neck attempting to hide his blush. He places gentle kisses to the skin.

A small smile traced (y/n)'s face as she curled into him, drifting off into a deep sleep.

(Y/n) rose early that morning a new dawn stretching across the sky, flooding the cabin with light.

No nightmares. That was a good sign.

She got dressed and headed to the alter that rested along the back wall of the cabin. Surrounded by a large apothecary of herbs, tinctures and crystals.

Another compromise, but this time between Poseidon and Hecate. A way for her to worship her mother and practice her magic. After all she fell madly in love with Poseidon's favorite son. The god had a spotty history, good and bad just like the rest, but she found him nice. Someone she could respect, despite the his poor choice of Hawaiian patterned shirts.

The ground rumbled slightly at her thought and she giggled, "It's true and you know it."

Silence

"Yeah you know I'm right."

She grabbed some dried belladonna and mugwort that hung along the wall. She held her and above a fire that never stopped burning and cast it into the fire watching the flames swallow the herbs.

"Hey mom. I'm worried. Really worried. I need a sign. Something, anything. I promise I'm not picky."

She waited a few minutes her eyes closed and in deep thought as she continued to pray to her mother. But nothing happened. She frowned at the answer. When communicating with her mother, a response was practically guaranteed. Hecate didn't have many children but the ones she did have were deeply cared for. Unlike other godly children who almost never heard a peep from their parents.

With a heavy sigh she threw some rosemary, sage and more mugwort into the flames. Slightly discouraged. Reaching into a bowl on the altar grabbing a fistful of blacksalt. She sprinkled the grains into the fire, eyes shut tight as she muttered some words for the protection charm.

A breeze crawled through the air sending a chill through (y/n).

"Thank you," she whispered, happy that at least the charm worked. The tightness in her chest easing slightly.

She hoped whatever was out there would hold off a little longer. But knowing her luck  the forces that were conspiring had other idea.
