The dining hall was vast and beautiful. The gothic architecture which had blackened over time from Regina's magic made it all the more impressive. The seats were made of the finest wood and had maroon cushions. The table was decorated with maroon cloth and a candle at each end. The food looked lovely. There was apple pies, chicken, salad, mixed fruits, potatoes of all kinds, and something that looked like Turducken.

Regina points to a sit for y/n, "sit." She says in a monotone voice.

Y/n sits down and notices that Regina sits beside her. She frowns wondering why Regina didn't sit at the head of the table like any normal Queen or King would.

"Why don't you sit at the head of the table?" She asks quietly and politely.

Regina looks at y/n and smirks, "because I don't want to, is there a problem?" Her words were like poison and you didn't dare challenge them.

"Not at all."

"Good girl." Regina says with a grin before putting food on her plate.

Y/n follows Regina in suit and puts food on her plate. The fruit was lovely and so was the chicken.

"Tell me y/n, what does your family do?" Regina asks before taking a bite of pomegranate seeds.

Y/n wipes her mouth with the napkin, "we are farmers. My mother took it over when my pa passed a few years ago. We raise chicken, cows, sheep, basically everything a usual farm does."

Regina furrows her brows, "that sounds peaceful, why'd you want to leave?"

Y/n sighs since this was a touchy subject, "well, it's always been my dream to be in the kings army."

"Thats not what I asked. Why'd you want to leave the farm, y/n?" She said in a slightly colder tone.

"Because I hated not having my father around. I hated being a woman and being told I couldn't do anything except marry and have kids, I wanted change."

Regina nod's sympathetically, "you left because you wanted to prove those people wrong, that's understandable." She says as she eats another spoonful of pomegranate seeds.

Y/n nods and sighs, "people don't think I'll make it a week here."

This earns a chuckle from Regina, "oh trust me, you'll last longer than you think...besides, you're not in my guard, you're my personal guard. There's a difference."

"What do you mean?" Y/n asks while sipping some wine.

"Well, you'll be beside me all the time, you'll travel with me, sleep with me-"

Y/n cuts her off, "sleep with you!?" She says in a panic.

Regina chuckles again, "not in that way, I mean that we will sleep in the same bed. Nothing derogatory has to happen.." she says as she looks at you with a grin.

Suddenly the air around you two grew thick quickly. Regina's grin bored into you like a nail, and you both understood your attraction to each other. As you two stared, Regina's seductive eyes traveled over your face making you swallow thickly. You quickly pushed those feelings away.

"I'm her protector, not her lover" was the sentence that kept going in your mind.

Regina finally broke the eye contact and stood up, "we will retire to my chambers for the evening. My maids have laid out your night gown. It has pockets so you can keep your weapons on you at all times, follow me." Regina said as she walks down the hall to the other end of her castle.

Y/n walks behind her and can't help but notice how Regina's hips sway as she walks. Was she trying to seduce y/n? She shook her head, "no that would be ridiculous." She thought as she followed Regina.

As they walk Regina stops at a door with guards on either side. She looks at y/n and grins to herself. Regina opens the door and allows y/n to walk in first. Again, it was a beautiful room. Y/n walks in front of Regina and stops to admire the colors and architecture not knowing that Regina was discreetly running her eyes over y/n's body.

Regina walks up behind y/n, "your clothes for the evening are on my bed. You are welcome to bathe first of course." She takes a breath, "I know you'd probably enjoy washing off after your journey." She says in a hushed tone and a smirk.

"That would be great, Regina, thank you." Y/n says as she tries to fight the thoughts in her own mind.

"Just make it through the night." Y/n thinks as she gathers her clothes and goes towards the bedroom door to exit.

Regina stops her, "where are you going?" She asks  curiously.

Y/n swallows and turns around to face her, "to the guards showers."

Regina shakes her head, "no, you will not bathe in there...you will use my personal  bath chamber. It's through that door, take all the time you need."
