Chapter 1: Burst

*Sirens Fade out*

*Flashback*

''We did it!'' Kai exclaimed excitedly.
''Finally, who knew it'll take us this long to perfect the double jump.'' replies Xaidon.
The excited duo continues jumping on the trampoline and does many tricks for another 15 minutes.
''Hey man, I'm getting kinda tired. All this jumping is making my legs shake. Let's watch some TV. I'll make grilled cheese.''
''Yeah, Zzzaidon let's go inside.'' says Kai
''Come on, man. Again with Z-X joke, it's getting a bit old you know''

*Black Aura fades out*

*Siren fades in*

*Flashback ends*

''Kai!....Kai!''.
Kai's eyelids manages to barely open, he sees fire all around him and a woman... a familiar woman. It's his aunty Monica, calling out his name.
''His alive'' she screams.
Kai, who's severely injured, gets carried outside his burning house with the last thing Kai seeing is a figure but feeling the ora of two.

Two days later(11/07/21) Kai wakes up in hospital. As he wakes up, he questions why he doesn't see his father, mother or brother but sees his aunt Monica instead.
''Hey Aunt Monica...'' says Kai.
Monica, happy to see him, jumps out of the chair, calls a nurse and gives Kai a hug.
"I'm so glad you're awake."
"Where's mom...?" asks Kai with a concerned look on his face.
"Your mom... and your brother... have both passed on in the house fire." awnsers Monica with tears rolling down her eyes.
"Mom... Carlos... died... house fire..... what house fire!?" replies Kai, angry and confused.
One of the nurses steps into the room.
"I am glad to say that now that Kai is awake, he can be discharged in a few minutes — just need his doctor and his guardian or parent to sign."
"Oh, I'm not his mom, his Gordan's kid. Can I still sign him off, if that's ok?" Monica asks the Nurse
"That's alright Monica, we will make an exception. After all, detective, you and Gordan are well known and loved around here." replies the nurse.
"And as for you, Kai, it amazed the doctors and I at how fast you recovered, considering how critical you were."
"How...do you mean?" says Kai
"Well, a lot of rubble fell on you. You had first-degree burns and your heart stopped for a second. It was a miracle you were even alive." Replies the nurse.
Kai thinks to himself: "Rubble... burns... my heart stopped... Who am I?".
"Well, I'll leave you two alone. I need to go find Kai's doctor." says the nurse as she leaves the room.
The room grows silent — Kai is still confused about what has happened. To break the everlasting silence, he asks "How did the fire begin?"
"No-one knows. There were no witnesses and all the neighbours heard was a loud explosion. I was hoping you'd remember something."
"I don't remember anything after coming home from school. I only remember seeing a dark figure in the house." replies Kai.
"A dark figure? Are you sure it wasn't just one of the staff?" Asks Monica now growing concerned.
"I'm sure. I felt it looking at me."
Monica grows even more concerned. Worried by what Kai told her she decides to cut the topic.
"I hate to questioning you as soon as you woke up, so how about we go home? Your father's there."
"Are you gonna be the one taking on this case?" asks Kai.
"Yes, I am, and when I find out who did this, they'll regret the day they messed with my family." Replies Monica with pride.
Kai's eyes glitters as he hears his aunt. He feels a sense of relief — knowing that his great detective aunt will be on the case.
A while later, Kai's doctor discharges from the hospital. Kai leaves his room but looks at the room number. It reads '01134' upside down in black, displaying the word hello and a big smiley face in the middle of the door. Kai sees this, and it's as if his heart sunk. He rubs his eyes to check if what his seeing is real but as he open his eyes again, he sees the original room number '231' and a clean plain white door. "What was that?" He thinks to himself. "Am I going crazy?". As Kai approaches the car, he feel as if nothing happened to him like his house's whole burning roof didn't just crash onto him two days ago. Monica notices this but chooses to keep it to herself. They both enter the car and Monica drives them to her place.

After a long quiet drive, Monica gets into the driveway.
"Mondeville looks so cool." Kai thinks to himself after seeing all the flaura, mountains, animals and houses on his drive to Monica's house.
"Is Caden here..." he asks.
"His on his way home from school. He'll be home soon." Replies Monica.
They walk to the door. Monica opens the door to her dogs jumping on her. Kai attempts to pet the dogs but the dogs run in fear into the backyard.
"Are they always like that...?" Asks Kai
"No, they usually don't act like that towards new people.".
"Hey, they'll warm up to you soon, don't worry." Monica says with a smile on her face.
A man walks out of the bathroom and into the lounge. It's Kai's father, Gordan. Gordan holds back his tears as he goes towards Kai and hug him. As they hug, a sudden force builds the room, which causes a glass door cabinet to break and all the house's doors to open.
"Hey Gordan, not in front of the kid!" Whispers Monica aggressively.
"That's not supposed to happen... I have full control remember. It cant be me." replies Gordon softly — now confused over what just happened.
Gordan proceeds to close the front door.
"Clearly something's up. Maybe it's... Crystal and Carlos. You can feel emotions as well, you know. You can grief."
Acknowledging what Monica said, Gordon ignores Monica and turns his attention to Kai.
"Hey buddy, why don't you watch some TV? I'll make us some grilled cheese." Gordan says with a peaceful smile on his face.
Kai nods his head and goes to the TV room. On his way, he sees the animals that his uncle hunted and stuffed. His amazed by all the different animals. He sits on the couch next to the jaguar and strokes it for a while before deciding to go to the pool in the backyard to clear his head. As Kai approaches the pool, he sees a reflection of a boy who looks exactly like him but exception that the reflection has horns on his head. Kai startled by this, jumps back. He goes back to the TV room and watches a football match.
"There's no way this is real... right?".
"Yeah, it must be me still recovering from the two-day coma. Yeah, nothing to worry about." Says Kai to himself, now paranoid by what he has just seen.

Meanwhile, Monica still questions Gordon about what happened with the doors and the glass cabinet door.
"Listen, I really don't know what just happened. It has nothing to do with Crystal and Carlos's death. It happened whilst I hugged Kai." Says Gordan.
"You don't think that... he might be a... Hybrid... do you...?" Suggests Monica with a concerned look apon her face.
"It can't be. I separated the Demon curse from our family. I should be the last hybrid left apart from the hybrids at the sanctuary." Replies Gordon with a fearful look on his face.
"Well, get your demons together, Gordan. And make the kid a sandwich. Okay, I'll clean this up."

Later that day, the front gate — then the front door opens.
"Caden!" Says Monica excitedly.
She gives Caden a tight hug.
"Hello mom." Replies Caden.
Caden sees Gordan.
"Hello Uncle Gordie." says Caden.
Gordan gives Caden a side hug.
"Ahh Hello monkey, how are you?" Asks Gordon.
"I'm okay, Uncle Gordie." replies Caden with a slight chuckle.
Caden and Kai see one another. They both try holding back their smile but are both stuck smiling.
"I'll go dress me, then we hit the pool. Be right back." Caden says to Kai.
"Yeah, okay." replies Kai Excitedly
"It's him." Says an ominous voice.
Kai seems to be the only one that can hear the voice. In fear that his family might think his crazy, he keeps it secret and decides to ignore the dark voice. The boys hit the pool until the sun sets. Kai begins to feel drowsy and sleeps on second bed in Caden's room. Caden feeling tired aswell follows him to sleep — after gaming for a bit.

*window breaks*
