If Snape had gone to fetch Professor McGonagall, head of Gryffindor House, they would have been hardly any better off. She might be fairer than Snape, but she was still extremely strict.

~With Jade and Draco~

Nearly an hour after Snape had left, Draco and Jade had made several jokes about how Ron and Harry were probably pissing themselves after being caught.

"Maybe they'll even get expelled this time." Draco chuckled. Jade smiled.

Shortly thereafter, Snape made his way back into the bustling great hall, his arrival causing a stir among the students. He approached the headmaster with an air of secrecy, whispering something into his ear. Dumbledore discreetly gestured for the head of Gryffindor to follow him, leaving the students to enjoy their meal in peace.

As soon as the three professors departed, Jade leaned in close to Crabbe and Goyle, her voice barely above a whisper. She entrusted them with the important task of keeping watch outside the grand hall until they returned with Weasley. It took a little persuasion, but the boys finally consented when Jade revealed the contents of the letter Weasley had sent her.

"Is this all part of your plan?" Draco questioned, seeking confirmation.

"Yeah, and trust me it's going to be worth it since I know for a fact a certain muggle-born girl likes him," Jade exclaimed with a mischievous grin directed towards the Gryffindors.

Daphne overheard Jade and Draco talking and couldn't help but ask, "Are you referring to Granger?" Jade simply nodded in response.

Draco seemed puzzled and questioned, "But aren't you two best friends?"

Jade paused for a moment, carefully choosing her words, and replied, "Well, I suppose you could say that Granger is indeed a friend of mine. However, I must admit that I wouldn't hesitate to use our so-called 'friendship' against her if the need arises." Her response was honest, albeit cautious.

Draco tilted his head, trying to grasp Jade's words. "I don't quite understand," he admitted.

Jade's smirk remained as she elaborated, "In simpler terms, Draco, as long as Hermione continues to aid me with valuable insights, we'll remain friends. However, if her usefulness wanes, our friendship will come to an abrupt end." Her gaze shifted towards Hermione, her smug expression revealing her intention to exploit their friendship for her benefit.

Draco, Pansy, and Daphne inquired, "So, what does that make us?"

Jade responded with a warm smile, "To me, you are not just my housemates, but also my true best friends. You embraced me for who I truly am, even before I revealed my identity under the sorting hat. You never jumped to conclusions and mistook me for someone else, such as Bellatrix, just because of my hair." Her words were filled with genuine appreciation as she looked at each of them.

As Crabbe and Goyal reentered the Great Hall, a somber atmosphere seemed to follow them. Jade, sensing their unease, couldn't resist asking, "What's wrong?"

"The headmaster and Snape are back,"

"But Ron and Harry won't be joining us here."

Jade, always quick on her feet, chuckled and said, "No worries, I had a backup plan in mind anyway." With a mischievous smile, she swiftly wrote a short letter using magical ink that only Ron could read. Folding it neatly, she approached Hermione, her mind buzzing with anticipation.
