Span Of Growth

As a seed you were once sown,
Look how much you've grown,
You were buried deep inside the ground,
A lost soul, waiting to be found.

It then rained, settling down the sand,
Drenching the once parched land,
With newfound wisdom, you sprouted out,
Knowledge dissipated every doubt.

You were as fresh as a sapling green,
Even through all the struggles you'd seen,
You came out through it all, clean,
Enthusiastic to face the brand new world, all keen.

You needed nurturing, you needed light,
Guidance and support, to help you shine bright,
But this world, is not only about sunlight,
It is also a place of darkness; an unfair fight.

Still, you managed to lean towards the brighter side,
Undeterred by neither Time, nor tide,
For grass is always greener on the other way,
Each dark night is followed by a brighter day.

You aged like fine wine, into a young vine,
Motivated, lively, you were doing perfectly fine,
People encouraged you, you made them proud,
They would applaud your achievements openly loud.

But praise doesn't come without criticism and doubt,
After you let them in, they lock you out,
You sit back and contemplate about,
Where and what wrong did you sought.

You feel like you can no longer go on,
Your vital enthusiasm is now gone,
People keep hurling stones at you,
Breaking your strong branches into two.

But life is not only about the rain,
It is also how you deal with the pain,
You have to survive the stormy cloud,
And make everyone once again proud.

Through the difficulties, you'll reach for the stars,
There are days when you'll feel weak about your scars,
You'll feel shattered, deep down to the root,
But know that people throw rocks only at the tree which bears fruit.

And one day, when you become an adult tree,
You'll introspect deeply, you'll look back to see,
How far you've come, how much you've grown,
Into a deep rooted tree from a brittle seed once sown.
