Mao felt the crisp autumn breeze as she stepped onto the tennis court. The sun hung low in the sky, casting a warm glow on the vibrant orange and red leaves that scattered the ground. It was a perfect day for tennis, and Mao was determined to make the most of it.

She exchanged a quick nod with Crystal, as she took the place on court. The coach blew the whistle, signaling the start of the practice match. Mao's eyes scanned the opposing side, evaluating her opponents. Her agile movements and quick footwork demonstrated the hours of practice she had dedicated to refining her skills.she served the ball with precision, starting the rally. Mao moved gracefully, her racket meeting each ball with a resounding thud. The sound echoed across the court, a testament to the power she had developed in her strokes. As the rally intensified, Mao's competitive spirit ignited. The coach observed from the sidelines, quietly acknowledging Mao's prowess. He exchanged a knowing look with Crystal, recognizing the potential leadership qualities in Mao. The idea of Mao as a captain began to form in his mind.On the other side of the net, a teammate named Mei couldn't hide her envy. Mao's talent was undeniable, and it stirred a mix of admiration and resentment in Mei's heart. She struggled to match Mao's skill during the practice match, and the frustration was evident on her face.During a break, as the girls gathered around the bench, Mei couldn't resist a snide comment. "Must be nice to be the coach's favorite, huh?" she remarked, her eyes narrowing at Mao.Mao brushed off the comment with a smile, choosing not to engage in a verbal duel. She focused on her water bottle, taking a sip to stay composed. Crystal shot a protective glance at Mao, silently warning Mei to back off.As the practice continued, Mao's mind briefly wandered to the recent incident at school when a boy had awkwardly attempted to ask her out. Zhiyuan's quick thinking had swiftly put an end to the situation, leaving Mao just rolled her eyes at her brother's antics .Zhiyuan, who had witnessed the entire scene, approached Mao during a break. "Dudee your brother has been a monster at practice"complained Zhiyuan"Yeah we had a bit of an argument about last weeks incident"said Mao"ohh is it still not over?"said Crystal"No and I am not saying sorry"said Mao"You both are really similar he probably won't say Sorry as well"said Zhiyuan"We poor middlemen have to suffer"cries out Zhiyuan

At after school practice:

The coach called for the final set of the practice match. Mao refocused, her mind clearing as she prepared to showcase her skills once again. The court echoed with the rhythmic sounds of tennis balls and determined footsteps.

As the sun set Mao began to walk towards where the her brother was waiting for her. She sat in the car and the car was awkwardly quiet for 10-15 minutes"I heard you are getting made team captain"said Jingwu not taking his eyes off his mobile"ohh yeah maybe not sure though"said Mao.Jingwu just hmmd in response"Anyways me, cris, and Yuan(i don't know how chinese nicknaming goes) are going to dinner this weekend"said Mao trying to keep the conversation going"No. Zhiyuan has practice late that day"said Jingwu his grip on his phone tightening"He said he was free"said Mao"now he is not"said Jingwu"Why?"asked Mao a bit angry at her brother for ruining her and her friend's plan"Because I am his captain and we have matches starting soon""Ahhh I hate you!"said Mao stomping out of the car.
