So I have no issue with Edward being a Furness Railway K2, however I feel like it's best if he was perhaps a bit more older.

So my take on Edward is that he's a Furness Railway K1, was loaned to the Sodor and mainland from 1896-1918 and at the end of his loan the NWR was formed however instead of going back to the Furness Railway he was immediately purchased by the NWR. He was renumbered 202, and was named after the Fat Director "Edward Topham Hatt ''. In 1968 after his exploit to get a bunch of tourists home on one cylinder, he was sent to  Crovan's gate to have his side plate and splashes rebuilt. So he was fitted with a new side plate, rods and a new cab from the LNER D16, he still kept components of his original K1 design, just that minor changes were made to mend him.

And that's my take on Edward
