9: ʜᴇʀ ᴏʀ ᴍᴇ?

“Did she just kiss you on the cheek?!?!? No way!!”

Aether sighed as he emerged from the bushes, clearly exhausted.

“Y/n.”

You turned to Aether, swatting Paimon away.

“Yes?”

“Let’s go home. I need to talk to you.”

After cooking dinner, eating, and taking a bath, you were seated in the living room, waiting for Aether to get out of the bathroom.

Paimon unfortunately passed out after her bath and was currently knocked out next to you on the couch.

Hearing the door open accompanied with a sigh, you looked over at the bathroom door. Aether was finished.

“Do you feel better?”

“A little.”

Aether stretched and sat on the couch in front of you.

“You said you wanted to talk?”

Even though you would rather wait for him to get comfortable, you were also exhausted and wanted to go to bed right away.

“Are you going to stay here?”

“...”

You looked at Aether with a hint of confusion on your face.

“What do you mean? I’m already here..”

Aether sighed as he shook his head.

“No. Will you stay with me?”

You looked at Aether, trying to see if you could find any hint of sarcasm on his face.

He wasn’t joking.

He was completely serious.

“...Stay with you?”

“I’m leaving Fontaine and going to Natlan soon.”

Aether got up from the couch and walked over to you.

He moved his face close to yours.

“Will you come with me?”

“...”

Neither of you broke eye contact.
                                                                                                                             
For some reason, it felt like if one of you looked away first, you would lose or something..

Aether knew that he was being selfish, but could you blame him.

Five nations. Five!!!

And nothing.

You somehow comforted him with your presence. He didn't know why, but he couldn't imagine you leaving.

“Ugh, Paimon is going to her room.”

Paimon sat up from the couch and stretched.

When she saw you and Aether staring into each other’s souls, she shrieked.

“Eek! I-is Paimon interrupting something!? You don’t have to worry about me! Paimon will be leaving now!!!”

Paimon immediately flew to her room and slammed her door shut, leaving both of you behind.

Eventually, Aether sighed and backed away from your face.

“Nevermind…I’m going to bed.”

Turning on his heel, Aether walked to his room and closed the door.
