Chapter 3

It's been a week since Ashley got discharged from Med. Jay had been off from work to take care of the little girl and tomorrow he's gonna get back. Will is gonna take the day off while they firgure things out with Ashley.

They were having dinner when Jay started to explain Ashley that he's coming back to work

Jay: Hey bumblebee I have something to tell you
Me: Mhm
Jay: I'm going back to work tomorrow so, Will is gonna stay with you
Me: Okay... How long are you gonna be there?- she asked with a sad face
Jay: I will come home before dinner
Me: Promise?
Jay: I promise
Will: We're gonna have fun tomorrow munchkin.

They finished their food, and watched their phones while Ashley was watching her favorite cartoon on the TV. A couple of hours later...

Jay: Okay bumblebee it's bed time, since I'm going to work tomorrow, do you want to sleep with Will?
Me: Yeah
Jay: Good, see you tomorrow sweetie. Have fun with Will- he gave her a kiss in her forehead and headed to his room

Next day Will went to the groceries store with Ashley, spent some time in the playground and went back to the house around 5pm

At the district*

Hank: Halstead, my office

Jay followed him and closed the door behind him

Hank: Have you tought what is gonna happen with Ashley?
Jay: No, yet I'll talk to Will tonight
Hank: Bring her here, you two work crazy hours and that little girl needs a family, she can be close to you here, we're gonna help you raising her. She can stay in the breakroom so you can focus 100% on the cases knowing she's safe around us.
Jay: I don't know Sarge this place is not the best for a 4 years old girl, but I think it's what we have for now, and it will be heplful to have everyone around her, Will and I can't keep taking days off from our jobs forever.
Hank: I agree
Jay: I'm gonna talk to Will about this. Thank you Sarge. I really appreciate it.
Hank: No problem. Let's go back to work

At home*

Will and Ashley were putting the groceries in the cupboard, then Will put a movie on the TV for Ashley while he starts to make dinner. An hour after, Jay got home

Jay: I'm home

Ashley ran into his arms and Jay picked her up

Me: I missed you Jay
Jay: I missed you too bumblebee. I have some news for both of you
Will: What is it?
Jay: Well, you don't have to take more days off. Ashley is going to work with me
Will: But.... Can we talk about this later? - he made a sign because Ashley was there with them
Jay: Sure

They had dinner while Ashley told Jay about her day with Will, shortly after Will gave one of the pajamas to Ashley so she could get ready for bed. When she changed she lay down on Will's bed and waited for him to tuck her in. He sat next to her, kissed her forehead and told her to close her eyes and sleep. Within minutes Ashley was fast asleep and Will left her room and headed downstairs to talk to Jay.
Will: Jay, what do you mean you're taking Ashley to work? Don't you think it's risky for the little girl to be there?
Jay: No, she's going to be fine. Together we will take care of her and she can feel like family. Besides, I'm not going to be calm leaving her at home and you have to go back to your practices, go to the Med and continue with your plans.
Will: I know, but I also think about her safety.
Jay: It's going to be okay Will, don't worry.
Will: I know, I trust you brother, I'm going to study for a while and tomorrow I'll let them know that I'm going back to the Med. I put Ashley to bed in my room
Jay: Good luck Will.

Jay stayed downstairs for another hour and then went to his room to sleep.The next morning he got up around 7 in the morning, went to bathe, got ready and went to Will's room to wake up his little sister.
Jay: Good morning sweetie, how did you sleep? - He kissed her on the forehead.
Me: Good
Jay: Do you want to take Mr. Cuddles with you?
Me: Yes
Ashley, with Jay's help, got ready and went down to have breakfast. After a few minutes, Jay put the little girl's jacket on and took a blanket, the tablet, and some snacks so that she wouldn't miss anything at the station. He took Ashley's hand and lifted her into the truck, putting her in the carseat. After a few minutes they arrived and parked in the parking lot, Jay took her backpack and his little sister, they walked towards the entrance, upon entering they first saw Trudy
Trudy: Hello sweetheart, how are you?
Me: Good, Thanks
Trudy: I'm glad to hear that! Let me buzz you up guys. Welcome to 21st district
