Chapter 10: (Not that) bad first impression

Haerin sat beside the bed as Minji was eating her dinner, she looked like she's struggling to use the chopsticks in her hand, Haerin at first didn't say anything, she was waiting for Minji to ask for help first but the woman didn't say anything, her hand is shaking as she kept dropping the food from her chopsticks, Haerin couldn't bare to see this anymore so she asked "Sorry for asking this but you seemed like you don't know how to use the chopsticks"

Minji glanced at her hesitating "I know how to use them but..." she felt frustrating "I'm a left handed person, so using my right hand is kinda awkward"

Haerin took the information to her head as she think for a moment, a cute smile formed on her lips "Why didn't you ask me for help?"

Minji was confused "ask for your help with what?" That made Haerin chuckle "Feeding you, It's my job after all. give the chopsticks to me" Minji gave them to Haerin, their hand brushed against each other a little. Haerin use them to pick up a broccolie on the plate and lifted it to Minji's mouth, Minji stared at her "Do you want me to open your mouth and help you chew your food too?" those questions from Haerin made Minji hurriedly opened her mouth accepting the food, she chewed them so fast she started to choke. "Oh my goodness, I'm sorry" Haerin apologized while offering Minji water. "No- ack it's not your- kaff fault"

They have a little conversation about things and Haerin found out Minji had a dog named 'Pookie' which intrigued her about the reason behind the name "Why did you named him 'Pookie'?"

"I think it's a cute name, at first I planned to name him 'PP' but my brother didn't allowed me to, he said it referred to something inappropriate and I don't know what he was talking about. I didn't want to argue and besides that I found a cuter name on TikTok so I decided to named him 'Pookie'. That's how it happened" Minji explained it while smiling wildly, she felt happy talking about that dog of hers. Haerin nodded in understanding, she hesitated "But, do you know the meaning behind it?" she asked. "Behind what?" Minji asked back, tilting her head.

Haerin was silent for a moment, still hesitant, she doesn't know if she should tell Minji or not but she better know about this, right? "Umm, 'Pookie'" Minji still looked confused "Huh?". Haerin left a sigh "Minji, Pookie actually comes from the word 'Puki' which is a Filipino term for 'Vagina'. I've heard this from a Filipino coworker of mine but I don't know what it means in other countries"

"Oh" "..." "Okay"

Haerin left the room after that awkward conversation, still regret giving Minji such information.

Minji was both a little embarrassed and frustrated with herself since she had left a bad first impression on an attractive woman. "I thought it meant something cute" she talked to herself. After a while, she decided to call her brother, he thought it was something serious, but it turned out she called him at 12pm, just to tell him she decided to change her dog's name and told him to tell everyone to never call her dog 'Pookie' ever again. "Leo, that's his new name"

"How is my mom, Charlotte? Is she asleep right now?" Haerin is on her phone with her old friend right now asking about her mom's well being, "She is doing fine, I make sure to accompany her the best way I can. We watched her favorite show together until she fell asleep. how's work Hae?"

"It's great, the patient is not a hard headed person, she does everything I told her to do, she doesn't ask too much questions and unnecessarily called for my presence every 2 minutes"
Haerin chuckled remembering an annoying patient, he always looked and called for her and she couldn't even do her work properly because he always asked for this and that and didn't do anything she told him to do to get her attention and make her forcefully stayed with him as long as he wanted, even the thought of him, annoyed her.

"That's great then, Hae." Charlotte said. "Anyway, it's late. You should go to sleep. Thanks for everything, I'll make sure to pay you extra for this"

"No need, Haerin, save those moneys for something more important, you have already gave more than I need and go to sleep too, it's late, don't over work yourself"

"Thanks again, Charlotte. I couldn't have asked for anything better, I owe you this one. Bye bye" Haerin hung up her phone and continued to do her paperwork, still having a thought about the conversation she had with the recent patient, after one paper to another, she was done, then her friends suddenly showed themselves at her door, inviting her to go outside with them since they haven't hung out for a while. "Wanna go to somewhere fun with us?" It was from Hanni, smirking at Haerin with a playful expression. "Ain't you guys tired? It's almost 1AM." Haerin commented. "Come on, Rinnie. We have worked so hard, let's give ourselves a reward" Danielle said trying to convince Haerin, Sunoo nodded behind her.

Haerin left a groan "Agh, alright. Even if I said no, you guys would still dragging me out with you. Luckily, I have prepared something to change"

"Didn't we agree to stop coming to this club after that incident?" Haerin raised an eyebrow at her friends, waiting for their explanation. "It was Danielle's idea" Hanni pointed her index towards Danielle. "He is banned from this place, Rinnie, don't worry and Sunoo is also here to protect us" Danielle gave Hanni a look. "Come on, let's go inside. We barely clubbing, let's have fun like it's our last" Haerin took a big breath and followed her friends inside.

The loud music inside the club excited them, especially Danielle "Oh my god, I'm so ready for this" Danielle rushed to the dance crowd and started swaying her body. "Look at her, she is sober and already this energetic, we have to keep a good eyes on her when she's drunk" Hanni said, chuckling at Danielle. They sat on their usual table "I'll go get the drinks" Haerin said, her friends nodded. "Get me the usual" "Same for me and get one for Danni too"

While Haerin was waiting for their drinks, her eyes roamed the place and the crowd of people "So many people" she murmured as she continued to look from one person to another, someone caught her eyes "Jake?"
