Every child in Neosville was taught one thing from day one. Under no circumstances should you ever go into the mansion in the forest. If you go, you're gone.

What that meant, no one elaborated. Most of the people only knew of it as the creepy house in the forest that no one has lived in for over twenty-five years. Elders made up haunting stories to keep their youngsters out of that place but unfortunately, it only piqued their curiosity and they'd often go into the forest, give each other silly dares such as go touch the walls or take a photo of you in front of the house. They were wise enough to never go in, only lurked around the house.

The house never really frightened them. Sure, it was washed out, old, had huge windows that looked like eyes all over, vines crawled over it and it smelled. There were no ghosts spotted or any sounds made. It just stood there, tall and eyeing everyone around it. That was probably the reason Billy, a 16 year old high school kid, went in one night. Too bad, he was never seen again.

His parents cried and his 13 year old sister shut down. The town council built a fence around the house so no other person would have to end up like Billy. They didn't go in and search the house nor did they let his family in. They simply offered their condolences and built a fence.

Now, three years later, Billy's sister, Lily, stood in front of the house. She cut through the fence and got in. Her friend, Tom, bailed on her at the last minute, saying it was too risky. Of course she knew it was too risky. Her brother's disappearance made talking of the house a taboo topic in the town but she had to do this for Billy, her parents and most importantly, for herself. She's been plotting this for three years now. Her jacket was heavy with the tools she brought in case she needed to break in, and a camera.

Gusts of wind passed through her and she pulled her jacket closer. It was still dawn, the sun was yet to rise. Each step towards the house had the leaves beneath her feet crunching. She felt as if the house was mocking her, challenging her to go in. Good thing she was always up for a challenge.
