Third person POV

Eric walks back into the nest, just like his maker told him, he made sure that Hugo wasn't harmed. He walked back into the room where his maker was sitting, he nodded his head for the lady vampire to leave. So he could talk to his maker alone, well, alone as it could get with a bunch of vampires around the nest. He walked over to his makers seat. "Hugo's been dispatched", he bent down so he could be at the Same height as his maker. He could tell his maker wasn't exactly in the partying mood. "I told him not to stop driving until he reaches the Mexican border. I've arranged for an AB-negative human for you. Extremely rare", he knew his maker must be hungry, due to the fact that the church definitely hadn't fed him since he had been taken. "Thank you. I'm not hungry", his head was puzzled, he didn't know what to think. He still couldn't get over his argument with Danielle. Did she truly think that he didn't care for her? That he had gotten sick and tired of her, that he had sent her away because he didn't want her around anymore?

How could she think such a thing? If it were up to him, he wouldn't have let her out of his sight. But it was better that he did send her away, made her forget him, because it was better that she was safe rather then have her be in danger for the rest of her life. But to have her think that he didn't care about her? She was so wrong if she thought that, he's cared about her since the day she was born. And it certainly wasn't because of what she was. It took time and effort and patience with her, but he did grow to care for her. More then he should've. And all these years apart, made him realize that. He grew attached when he himself told himself not to get attached, knowing what will happen in the next few hours. She will be gone and forget about him. Unlike him, who will never forget about her, even after he is gone. He will never forget her. "You have to feed eventually. I doubt the fellowship had anything to offer", he said this with a smirk on his lips, a sarcastic one at that. Knowing that the fellowship wouldn't dare feed a vampire human blood. They already thought vampires were monsters, there was no doubt that they wouldn't give his maker any human blood or even that sad excuse for a substitute.

But once Eric got a good look at his makers face. He seemed spaced out, lost in his thoughts, sad. Was it because of the fellowship, or was it because of Danielle? Was it because of their fight, of course he heard the argument between the two of them. He knew she would feel this sort of way once she got her memory back, but his maker was making it seem as if this was better then telling her the truth. Was making her feel as if she was alone, as if they got tired of her instead of the truth better this way? And for who? Her or for them? He didn't know. He didn't want her to believe that they grew tired of her, because there is no way or how he could get tired of her. She was Danielle. She was the only human he really cared about. How could he get tired of her? He was there when she was still in her mothers stomach, heard her heartbeat before she was even outside of the womb, even placed his hand against her mothers stomach to feel her kick. And to have her think he didn't care about her? It sounded ridiculous, but she didn't know the truth, they did. And as much as he too thought it was better this way. Danielle did have a point, she is going to be eighteen in a few hours. A adult in human terms. But in a few hours, she will go looking for her mate, leaving them behind. It wasn't her fault for what she is. She was born this way. And he could never fault her for that. Even though he will miss her after she leaves. Knowing full well that her vampire mate would not want two vampires around his mate. They only had so much time left with her.

But he also had something else on his mind. "Why wouldn't you leave when I first came for you?", he himself wondered that, was it to keep her safe? He knew what had happened in that cage, he felt her pain. The pain had felt like it gone on forever. Until it didn't. "I had to keep her safe, I had to know she was out of harms way. They had caused her so much pain and suffering, I had to make sure she didn't get hurt once again", Eric gripped his hands into fists. He felt angry, but it wasn't for him, it was for her. If he wasn't going to talk to her, tell her the truth, then he will. "Then why cause her pain? You say you want to protect her, but you are putting her in pain, by not telling her the truth. By letting her believe that we did not care about her. When we do! She thinks we got sick of her and sent her away when we didn't want her. She deserves the truth, I don't care if she leaves in the next few hours, but she is here, now, and she deserves the truth before she leaves. That she deserves. She needs to know there is someone in her corner, that someone cares about her. She lost her parents, she lost her grandmother, her aunt is always hanging around with the broody vampire, she needs us to be in her corner. Yes, I do know she will forget about us in the next few hours, but that is not her fault, it is not her fault for what she is, she was born this way! Don't make her think we never cared about her, because if you don't tell her the truth, then I will", he was not scared to stand up to his maker, not when it came to her. He's stood back for the past ten years, believing that it was better for her to stay away, to believe it was better for her, but was it really better for her? For the first seven years of her life, she spent living with vampires, with them. They were a family, no matter if they were vampires raising a human child. It wasn't their fault that hunters came after them, they could not have predicted that they would go after them, he knew if they did, they would have made sure to prevent any of it.
